Default Placing players on ranges while multi-tabling

So I don't generally have an issue placing ranges while playing one or two tables at the sometime; however, adding anymore tables than that I just don't seem able to follow every action and build a range for my 'villains' ...

Once you start adding tables how do you place players on ranges, based on the hands you do see or solely from the HUD stats? To me it seems that in a sng a players range can change pretty quickly depending on the blinds or the stack sizes as well.

Pre flop it's easy to play using the cards, positions and bets but when it hits the turn I start to have problems especially with the lags

Experience, HUD, player notes, stack size.

Generally you have to dumb things down a bit because you won't be following action on all the tables. IMO a lot of SNG poker is pretty standard because we don't have a lot of scope to be firing second shells and other bluffs. I'm not saying we never fire them, but this is the stuff that can get you into trouble quickly, so most multi-tablers tend to do anyway with some of the more complex stuff to make their play simpler and easier to follow.

Thanks. I'm going to have to work on making more efficient notes. There's not enough time to write novels anymore! I remember reading a thread recently on just that, going to re-read it now...

Use abbreviations like this. CR AKx tt flop, which obviously means check-raised AKx two-tone flop. Or use an AHK script to use hotstrings to expand abbreviations. I think Robb might have written one about a year ago.

Oh, I forgot I'm starting to use Stars' note feature to give players certain colours, e.g. red = excellent reg, orange = good reg, green = spazzy fish, purple = bad reg. I don't always have time to open the notes so if a red reg is opening UTG, I know my TT is usually crushed. If a spazzy fish opens, I can ship it depending on stack sizes.

At least 95% of hands play out similar to the way you would think just having a quick look at someones hud stats or a showdown in a big pot or 2 (do usually try to look at all of these)

i have notes on regs and fish who play alot but most fish do the same things with similar ranges and the same with most regs. If a fish flats a raise he probably has a weaker hand than most and if a reg flats a raise from a steal position with shortish stacks he probably has a strong value hand. I certainly agree you miss out on some things but if your edge is big enough you will make more money playing more tables.

But poker is a game of incomplete info and you have to make assumptions about peoples ranges and tendencies whether you are on 1 or 20 tables.

re: lags, this is mostly a case of you can't do much about it. eg Ac9c8d2d flop. You raised pre and bet flop OOP with ATo and got called by mr. lag. Now it's the turn. What's the plan? If you c/f you're going to fold the best hand a lot. If you bomb you're going to look at AJ+ a lot when called.

The good news is, the lag is in the same spot vs you. When you're IP and he's the one who leads and gets called with AT, he has no idea where he's at.

Generically playing more aggro increases your variance. BUT, if people don't adjust, you'll win a lot of pots where you had < 50% equity OTT.

Higher level, you're going to construct 1 standard player type and play against that. Once you have that, start adjusting it based on reads/stats.
