    Default MTT recent burnout pattern

    Hello all,

I posted a question in the wrong forum, so I'm going to try to clarify my questions and ask it in the correct place.

I've been playing 1/NL, 2/NL/, 5/NL, and 11/NL MTT, sometimes I'll play a turbo but I prefer the non-turbo versions. I have been consistently burning out anywhere from 10-100 spots from ITM. I believe after making some adjustments today, I was playing way too tight. I have read most/all the articles on these tourneys on this site, and it's alot of great info. With this particular problem, are there any additional pointers to continue building a stack despite sub-par cards hitting the tables for an extended period of time? But sub-par I'm referring to Q10, J9, K9, 10-8, A8, etc? And, what's the general rule of thumb with A2-A10? Is it a judgement call based on the table and whatnot? Thanks for any help you can offer.

    Matt

    J9 & T8 sub-par? These hands are the NUTS!!
It's all relative to table conditions (player reads & stack sizes). I'm unable to say what you should do with 'such & such' hand in 'such & such' spot, etc. ie. on some tables I'm happy to 3bet with 53s otb or in CO when a guy in LP has been raising frequently (& also obviously when he has a high fold to 3bet... also dependent upon stack sizes).
Something you might want to try adding more into your game is 'restealing' (if you're not already). While sitting on a decent resteal-sized stack (15-24bb's) look for spots to reraise allin over villain's steal raises (whether that be from SB, BB Btn, etc.).... especially if you're on a table where you're finding it hard to find steal spots.

Alright, thanks alot for the pointers. I'm in a tourney now, we're down to 50 players out of 3k. I'm on about 15 BB's right now which is going to be tight after a couple level ups with the ante. But, I'm holding my own. I made some changes tonight and it's worked out great. We'll see how it goes. Thanks again.

Well, finished 17th with a reward of $21. Seems like not much considering it was 7 hours. Went out on AK suited against PP 10 that hit on the flop. I played well, and did make 21 out of 2 so that's cool. Gotta keep plugging and get into tourneys that reward more, i.e. higher stakes. But, I think the kinks have mostly worked out. Thanks again for your help.
