Your choices are really shove or fold, here. You can't just call because that's already 75% of your stack, and at that point you might as well shove. Besides, a call would mean you have to shove or call a shove on the flop, so the villain is going to be all-in by the flop no matter what. Also, there's going to be flops that you don't want to shove/have to shove (like three picture cards), so it's better to get it all in pre-flop since there's not much post-flop play in this situation.
I think the fold was good. Without having any reads on the villain, you can find a better spot than with 7s. There are also people at your table who are shorter than you and who ought to be taking more chances than you. They're waiting for someone else to make a mistake, and you don't need to be that someone else here.
