Default Good Shove, or Bad Shove?

    Lock Poker $500 GTD Bounty Turbo - $2 + $0.2 -- 100/500/1000 Blinds - 8 Players

BB is active, but not overly aggressive. SB is tight and hasn't been playing many hands.

    UTG+1 - 2,095
    MP - 14,070
    HJ - 9,283
    CO - 16,469
    BTN (Hero) - 9,876
    SB - 4,049
    BB - 17,892

    UTG - 5,040

    Pot is 2,300

    Dealt to Hero - 4, 4

2 folds, MP calls, 2 folds, Hero is all-in, SB calls, BB calls, MP folds

I can't stop thinking about this hand. I can see it being a good shove. I also see merit to playing it differently pre. It has to just be unfortunate that the blinds had the big hands here. My thinking was that perhaps MP would call, or maybe everyone would fold. What are your thoughts?

You gave reads on BB and SB but not MP?

Given MP is rubbish and will limp in even though it's an awful move and he isn't just doing it with very good hands it's a pretty obvious shove. Unless everyone acting behind you is likely to call for some strange reason, then it's a fold. You have to get your chips in when you are so short stacked and coin flip isn't a bad way to do it.

The only two things you can do here though are shove or fold. Anything else is bad poker (awaits someone much better than me to say otherwise)

The better the hands they showed up with, the more you should like your shove.

My gut tells me this is fine.

I think this an easy fold.
with so many players left to act,
fours just arent much good here.

I did forget the MP! MP hasn't been terribly active, but hasn't been limping/calling more than raising and 3-betting. I didn't see his limp as meaning much, although I didn't put it past him to be the type to limp/call with a weak ace or suited king.

Should it also be mentioned that we were about 10 spots away from the money? Does this factor mean I should have opted for more conservative play, or is the aggressive shove better since a double would put me in a better position to make the money/higher pay spot?

His limp means everything here. If he's limped before, especially if he's folded, shove is good. If he's never limped before or you've seen him raise fold before and/or limp/call big hands, I'd fold. Readless in a $2.20 I'm assuming he's bad and shoving.

    My thoughts exactly ^

I think its correct to assume MP is limping too much and shoving is definetely best

Everybody else tightens up around the bubble, so you should be abusing that and stealing like crazy when the table tightens up.
