I have a really cute puppy that I keep on my lap and stroke while playing poker, so if I ever get a bad beat I can simply calm myself down by kicking it out the window

that's verry funny but isn t a good strategy for long term. All big players have bad days. Everything depends on you,not to leave demoralized because bad beats are some normality. Bad beats are a big part from this beautifull game called POKER. In my opinion everything it s in your MIND. Let your past and play your best poker. Sometimes it s so hard after a bad beat and u need to rest or do something you like so much.

I just remember the times when I've delivered a bad beat, and how awesome that was. I also remember that in order for me to suck out, someone else has to have a bad beat.

Look at it this way: bad beats happen to good players more often than bad players. It means you got your money in good. So variance means you'll suffer a bad beat from time to time.

Likewise, bad players will suck out more often than good players because they tend to get their money in bad.

Variance is a good thing. Without it, the bad players would always be getting their money in bad and always lose -- they'd stop playing! By sucking out every once in a while they get just enough positive reinforcement to keep them coming back.

If you receive more bad beats than suck outs, you are a better player than the guy who sucks out all the time because it means in the long run you tend to get your chips in the middle in +EV situations and the fish get it in with -EV. Make sense?

This is true for cash but not for tournaments. Given most players in tournaments are way too tight, your shoving ranges should be wide, and you'll only be getting called a lot of the time by premium hands which you are behind with.

Good point, Pascal. Bring a puppy to the tournament table, I guess, and get ready to drop kick whenever you shove light.

Acceptance is the way to serenity. Remember the bad beats delivered when a Bad beat is received. If that doesn't work, kick a puppy. Suck it up dude!!
What MUST be, most surely SHALL be!!
