Default This is a hand I was called names for - did I deserve it?

This game was in Bodog, so I don't have a picture but I did take accurate notes to be able to post.

$5 buy-in with Value added game.
Early stages - yet far from ITM...

    Button - 1656
    SB - 2025
    BB - 2260
    UTG - 1470
    UTG+1 - 2444
    UTG+2 - 1360
    UTG+3 - 1440
    UTG+4 ME - 1000

    SB post 20, BB - 40, UTG - fold, UTG+1 - 120, UTG+2 - fold, UTG+3 - call 120 - ME - all-in - 1000, SB - fold, BB - fold, UTG+1 - fold, UTG+3 call.

    Flop 5h Ah 5s Turn 4c River 6c

    My hand: AsTs
    UTG+3hand: 9c9h

I won - got out of the position of low stack (eventually went on and won the tournament) But at this point I was called AN IDIOT - and it was agreed to by a second player!

Now was that justified - ot just sour grapes?

I actually thought and still happen to think that my play was justified regardless to the actual outcome.
My logic at the time - was: the pot did build-up sufficient to make it worth my while to take a chance. I have a fairly good hand in case I get a call, and of course great if I can just steal the pot.

    Looking forward to answers

Well in my honest opinion this can be 50/50. You can wait for a better spot or you can shove and try to get lucky, i do not think that this play is recommended by profs but then again, you are kinda shortish with 22,5bbs but then again, you could get a round of free cards, and only dropping down to around 940 chips, and still would be able to get a 2up to around 2k. But since your hand was suited broadway i could both do the play and fold, depends on mood, bankroll etc. But i normally do this shove in a shortie .10/.25/.50 turbo tournament. If this was a 33$ tour i would definitely fold.

And second you gotta pay attention to, who is the guy calling you an idiot and what is his stats, and the guy supporting him, and his stats. If the guy supporting him have good stats and is a reg somehow, then you could begin thinking that it wasn't the best play. Or maybe you were in a hand with some of them before where you did play bad or something and they just think you are a spewdonk or something like that. Hope that helped somehow.

Gl on the tables and real life and congrats with winning that tournament.

It was a coin flip all in. I do not mind being called an idiot whether or not the hand works. When they call me an idiot it is like water falling off a ducks back. The results are the only thing that matters. And I do not mean this individual game, but in the context of the whole day. If you play 10 games making calls like this and just a few of them results in this opportunity(winning a crucial hand) to get high in a tournament, then it is well worth the effort.
It takes 2 years to learn to talk, but a lifetime to learn when to shut up.

Why should you care if the table of idiots think you're an idiot? It's a $5 game, are they expecting to be playing pros? Everyone likes to think they know best. Well they don't. I personally wouldn't shove this spot, but I don't hate it with our stack. And I don't know best.

If people start calling you an idiot, act like one in the chat bar so they think you're worse than you actually are. Say something like "it was sooted".

Personally don't like this spot at all (25b's in early levels) but as others have already said "who cares what they say?"

I can see picking up the chips that are out there as the only goal in shoving here. If you get called you are almost always in bad shape or best case scenario against an under pair like you had it. No one decent is calling off that much with any worse. So I guess it's how often you are getting folds from the shove to see if it's a good play (plus the equity, however small, you do have when getting called of course).

It's close but probably bad. EP open and MP call are both stronger range than ATs unless they are both big donks. I think you need something like AQo AJs 99ish to push. That seems tight but you just don't have any fold equity here and you will be often dominated when called.

I won't beat yourself up over it but it looks like a fold from here. AT suited flops so well that i wouldn't fault a cold call though if its a really passive game. Likely you get a bunch of callers behind and be able to play a multiway pot with a suited ace, and you'll still have over 20bb if you brick the flop.

Ah missed the part that she actually wanted advice about how the hand was played, really tought she only wanted advice about the idiot part.

But agree shoving here isn't optimal IMO , but no reason to be called idiot.

Don't really like it, but not bad enough to be called an idiot for.
Just rather loose, more chancing than playing.
Mostly don't like it because there are clearly going to be better hands involved and it could quite easily be dominated.
