    Default confusing my old mind!

if everyone can stop abusing me just for second, i could use some insights on this one.

    my take:

    - preflop is fine

    - post flop his $3 bet really made me think he paired the jack with a good kicker, i really wouldn't have expected a $3 bet on a flush/str draw (of course, 68s from early position ). and if he had pocket tt or jj, i would have expected some kind of PFR. i think my raise was appropriate and i wanted to win it there - my hand was potentially vulnerable.

    - this is where i'm stuck - should i have called his turn raise? i was still thinking no flush.

    - the river diamond - i know i'm dead.

it's too much for my old brain.

My take is bad luck to a moron, who called your flop raise. After the turn, and his bet, I think you have to put him on it and think your two pair is beat. By either the set or the flush. With so many people limping with 10 10 or JJ, such as some of the folks here, he could of had the set.
Holy crap I cant play against Yoda!!

Your flop raise was perfect. He was semi-bluffing and you caught him. He is a moron for calling it.

I have no clue what I would have done on his turn bet.

I have a player note that I find myself using more and more that would apply to this guy: "Will can ANY BET no matter how high if he has a flush draw"

i'll append to your comment "... or a straight draw".

the crazy thing: if we were both sitting there with $100 stacks, i could have gone all-in and i'm sure he still would have called, just with the draw.

    thanks for the feedback, guys.

I've run into the "will call any bet for a flush draw" guys myself, and you gotta make them pay. But usually they're drawing to a better flush.

As far as betting his flush draw, I do it all the time. If I know I can call a certain bet, then I bet it first if I get a chance. Does at least three things for me.

First, if you're against others who all missed, you might win right there.

Second, it hides the fact that I'm on a flush draw. When my flush card hits, I get more callers.

Finally, it has a tendency to keep me in the pot. After I bet, say 1/3 of the pot, a lot of mediocre hands aren't going to go over the top and give me a chance to re-raise.

The drawback, of course is when the opponent has a good hand and comes over the top. You either lose your initial bet, or end up calling more than you could have. Often you end up with the pot odds to call that raise, but wouldn't have if you'd had to put it in in one chunk.
