    Default lucky run?

So I've placed ITM in 4 out of my last 5 games, and before that I was having a different good streak, though not as often ITM, but almost always first, thereby still turning a profit.

I'd like to attribute it to skill , but i'm thinking there may be a good portion of luck in there too. Before I had mainly played ring games, and found myself at my best barely beating the rake. Only just recently have I joined some of the SnG's and have been cleaning up quite well, i think. (And now the poker gods will punish me for seeming so arrogant).

and now a highlight; gotta love the very smooth call 8-)

PL Tourney, Big Blind is t400 (5 handed) converter

    SB (t1305)
    Stuck (t3470)
    UTG (t600)
    MP (t1910)
    Button (t715)

Preflop: Stuck is BB with 5, 5.
UTG folds, Button all-In.SB folds. MP Calls

    Flop: (t0) A, 5, 5 (3 players)

Stuck checks, MP all-In. Stuck calls.

    Turn: (t0) Q (3 players)

    River: (t0) 2 (3 players)

    Final Pot: 2245 | Side Pot 1: 2390

    Results in white below:
Stuck shows 5s 5h (four of a kind, fives).
MP shows Td Ad (two pair, aces and fives).
Button shows Ac Kd (two pair, aces and fives).

First time that's ever happened (hopefully not the last).

I've only been playing 10+1 tables, which might have something to do with it, but I've found it easy to just play tightly (if the rest of the table is doing the same, then be smarly aggressive to loosen them up a bit, or just increase your stacks)... I don't think I've ever gone out on the bubble, though I'm not sure why that may be; I've been among both the large stacks and the small stacks at bubble time. I guess the times I was small I hit people playing too tightly and thus it was easy to blindsteal ITM, or just hit good cards at the right time.

I still would like to turn more 1st places though. I have learned to *hate* Arag suited heads up And the few times I've tried to pull a Ripptyde, it's been to no avail. What's your secret?

Slightly off topic for this forum, but I hear a general concensus that PT is good for improving limit games, but I've heard mixed feelings about NL, PL or tourney games. Anyone have any comments? I'd certainly also like to improve my ring game, after all

Hi PT has many benefits for Tourneys as well as for Limit /NL.

On to the win rate, anything over 50% ITM is good, a sample of 5 tourneys is to small to dicate whether its luck or skill but from what you have said it sounds as though you are dominating.

PT is handy but a spreadsheet can be just as effective some monitoring win rates, if you speak to some of the other SnG players I'm sure one of them would be happy to send you a copy.
Poker is all about the long long long long long long long term . . .
    Barney's back . . . back again . . .
