Default ...know when to fold em all

I played in a SnG. One player got extremely lucky. He had more than tripled up in the first 3-4 hands. He took 2 other players out and diminished a 3rd stack. He was huge and it was early. I got a little smile on my face when I saw he chose not to sit out. He was there to play more poker, and he was there to lose his money. He ended up placing 5th.

SO here is my topic. Sitting out to reach the money.
    Good strategy when you can?
    Not playing fair?

I feel that if you have made a lot of money early in a tournament, you have earned the right to post and fold until you get to the money. However, if you are using that as your main strategy, and you post and fold from the beginning. Well, I hope you go out in the bubble.
I don't know what they have to say
    It makes no difference anyway.
    Whatever it is...
    I'm against it.

If I saw someone sitting out and there was 4 left, I'd suggest everyone fold except the BB until the person comes back or thier coin is split up between everyone.

i actually don't mind if someone does this (though, i wouldn't do it myself).

in an SNG, if i don't happen to be the big stack, i really prefer if just one player accumulates most of the chips. that way, i'm really only battling one player that has chip advantage over me, as opposed to 4 or more players.

now, if the big stack decides to sit it out, that's just fine with me. i don't have to deal with big stack bullying, and i don't mind making it the final 3 at a chip disadvantage. most of the time, once in the money, i can even things up.
i hate what i have become to escape what i hated being...

Its not cheating so I say anyone that wants to do that can go ahead. I wouldn't do it though. My goal is never to get into the money. I always play to win. If I have a big stack, I play to get it bigger and I want all of your chips.

Becareful with making deals with the other players to take out another player. It might be considered collusion.

Ya I guess you have a point Mike, but it'd be a fine line for support to call that colluding. Odds are not everyone would agree to it anyway.

IMO, having a huge stack early on is the best position to be playing with. You can still sit back and play tight, but you have the advantage of being able to bully the smaller stacks.

I agree though that although I think it's a bad decision to do that, I would be happy if it happend to me. Not having to play against a big stack is the best thing he can do for you - unless he is a bad player and is likely to pay you off with it.

Agreed. I've never personally chose to sit out of any tournament. If I want to tighten up, I tighten up. Folding any hand just because you have enough to make it into the money as is seems crazy to me. As a big stack, I'm playing to win.

When I get big stacked early, I make the goal of picking off other players. Some people say you need to tighten up and only play the premium hands to protect your chip stack. IMO this is what post and folding does but in the extreme. I really like it when others do this, especially if they are two seats to my left (his BB my chip stack ).

Last time I got big in the first hand it was me calling an all-in preflop with AA. Unfortunately the second hand, the seat to my right had AA, someone went in and the AA was the 4th caller. So my big stackwasnt so big Craziness
Is that guy still part of the forum??
