First ever real-life tourney
Well, I don't know if this is of any real interest, but I'm on enough of an adrenaline rush to tell all my buddies and colleagues, and now they're sick of hearing about it I guess I'll start boring you guys instead...
I've been playing for around 5 years or so, 99% of the time in home-games which are always single-table tourney format, top two places pay out. I've played a few SNGs and a few multi-table $110 buy-in tourneys on Ultimate Bet, Party Poker and the like, with mixed (but profitable) results - I managed 5 final tables out of <20 games on Ultimate Bet multi-table tourneys, and came first on one occasion.
Anyways, a friend and fellow pokerist scouted out his local casino's tourney, none of us have played in a brick-and-mortar casino before so we pretty much had to take his word for it, he persuaded a few of us to go along to a fairly low-level (£10 buy-in, unlimited rebuys for 90 minutes) tourney.
1 buyin, 1 rebuy, 1 add-on and about 4 hours later... I ended up at the final table! Some weak bubble-play left me with very little to manoeuvre with, but I managed to claw 8th place. Not much of a return on my money (particularly in terms of hourly rate!), but to be honest I was more than happy just to finish 8th out of 50-odd in my first ever r/l game.
Just thought I'd share, here's a link to the results page:

For the UK posters who have kids (or very immature viewing habits) I spent about the last hour or so sat next to one of the presenters of CITV's "Ministry of Mayhem", who was a thoroughly decent fella, but unfortunately didn't furnish me with Holly Willoughby's phone number...
