    Default First "real" tourny

hey whats going on im new
Yeah so anyway I happened to notice the gambling age at indian casinos in Ny was only 18. Being 18, and liiving a mere 3-6 hours from any part of NY, I had to check it out. Turns out theres a tour sat at 11am for 25 and a tour sunday at 12 for 25 too. Finally something besides the "no-fold' em" home games and online poker. Heres the thing though, im only 18 and ive never don this before. Im a decent player and im pretty good at reading people. Is there anything I really need to know going into this? Maybe be nice to everybody or something like that? Do exactually what "play poker like the pros" says? lol. Anyway, any adivice would help me out alot. Thanks

Are there Rebuys and Add ons? If so, you need to consider that in your bankroll. In a $25 tournament with R&A you will "really" need $75-100 to keep up.

Get there early. On a weekend the tournaments will fill quick and you may not get a seat.

NO FEAR. There will be a mix of very bad and good players there. Stick to your game.

BE PATIENT. Live casino game is about 1/2 speed compared to internet.

DON'T BLUFF, at least not early. IMO Bluffing is an overrated part of the game, especially by young whippersnappers like yourself. Don't bluff early, show down good hands and get respect which will open opportunities later. Reserve bluffing for stealing and defending blinds in later rounds where the blinds are worth stealing.

    Good luck.
Send lawyers, guns and money - the sh*t has hit the fan!

there are rebuys but no addons for both, which is odd. For the first tourny I have to show up 2 hours early to get a seat
    Thanks for the advice.

A Kansas City casino hosts a weekly tournament that has an odd set-up. $40 buy in. Sign up starts at 11:00 am (it usually is filled up by 1:00) no re-buys or add ons.

The odd part about this tournament is it is limit, until you get down to the final 2 tables, then it switches to No Limit.

The top 8 pays, I think they usually have about 60 people start, so it gets pretty intense when you get up there.

I've heard of multi game tournaments where the game switches from Holdem to Omaha to 7CS every hour, 30 min, whatever. But this is the only time I've heard of a limit / no limit holdem tournament.
I don't know what they have to say
    It makes no difference anyway.
    Whatever it is...
    I'm against it.
