    Default straight flush draw...online tourney

I played in an online tourney not too long ago, didn't do too badly, got third. But there was one hand that i laid down that i was not too sure about as far as being the right stragedy for the hand. Kind of thought i missed a big payoff that may have given me the momentum to get 1st. i had suited connectors, 7d 8d, and was in the big blind so i limped in. there were only about 15 players left so we were in the money already and i was third biggest stack at the table with about 25000. there was one caller to the blinds, the sb called, and i checked. flop came up, 6d Jc 9d. the original caller went all in with about 12000 and the sb quickly folded. i had an open ended str8 flush, and after long deliberation, i laid it down. i think i made the right decision and i finished pretty good, but i was just wondering what some of you guys might have done. if i had made the right decision as far as odds go.

1st question. You had the big blind and you limped? It was raised? I need more specifics.

There are a lot of things you are leaving out of the tournament. What are the stack sizes? What was the action. I'm assuming you and SB checked the flop and the last action raised all in. How much? Was it a satab? What was the pot?

Depending on his hand you have between 15 and 21 outs. This gives you a good chance to win this hand. You may be the favorite after the flop. I don't know all the specifics. But knowing what I do know. If I had even a 1.5 to 1 chip lead over the guy, I'd call the all in.
I don't know what they have to say
    It makes no difference anyway.
    Whatever it is...
    I'm against it.

the blinds at this point were 600-1200, so after the caller went all in, the pot was about 15000. he had 12000, and i had 25000. the biggest stack in the tourney at that time was between 58000 and 62000 if i remember right, second place was about 32000, and i was third with 25000. hope that helps. and stewie rocks..

Let's assume for the sake of argument that he had the best possible hand, JJ. The odds are 42.1% that you will win 57.9 that he will win.

This is if he has the nuts. If he had AA you would be a favorite. I say call.

    And hell yea, Stewie rocks.

well, i see the odds say you're right. makes a guy wonder. thanks for the info though. guess since it was an open ended staight flush, that gave me a whole deck full of outs. well, live and learn. i did get third out of about 300 in the tourney, but it sure would have been nice to get first.

    himself fucker.
I also think there's a very good chance he's just pushing with Axs, maybe on the nut flush draw, but I don't think he hit that flop hard enough to want a call. Since the pot was checked to him and he saw a flop that isn't going to make very many hands worth 12000 chips, he probably pushed to get a pot that would help him. Worst case scenario is he limped with Ad Jd(unlikely) but I don't think he'd push with a hand that has a great chance of ending the winner. Also, if you lose, you still have a fighting chance to make it deep in the tounry. I'd say call and be prepared to rake a nice pot.

I think you should just push all-in yourself when the SB checks to you (unless the SB has more or almost as many chips as you). Force him to a decision, knowing that if you fold him out you're taking down a nice sized pot and if he calls you have many outs and are probably a slight favorite.
