Default Trips on rainbow flop vs. 2 suited flop

First off, this is my first post here and I would like to thank all of the extremely talented poker players for commenting on these forums. I took a lot of crap at a live tournament the other day for not slow playing a set of 9's I had, which I generally do. The flop came K/9/3 the king and the 3 being suited. I didnt have a 9 of that suit. I tend to play fast with two flush cards on the flop. Is this play correct in general? Sometimes I don't think I give my bigger hands a chance to develop. But having someone suck out on the flush gets bothersome week and week out. Am I being paranoid or is this the correct play. By the way this situation was at a MTT.

i think its the right play. if someone has the 2 hearts you want to make them pay to see the cards and remove thier pot odds for calling. if you slow play and a heart comes up, you're going to lose more chips figuring out if they have the flush. take the smaller pot and keep on truckin

What stage was it in the MTT? If you arn't in the money, i'd suggest playing it safe, fast and hard. Taking the small pots instead of taking a chance at a big one is an adjustment you need to make for an MTT. If it was down to a final table, I might play it a little slower but be prepared to let it go if I get an accurate read that someone hit their flush.

How many people take the flop with you should determines how you play your hand. I.e. if you only have one caller and a four-flush flop, you probably can slowplay the hand. If you don't exactly want to slowplay the hand, I would suggest making a small-ish bet (not blatantly small) but small but small enough to suggest weakness to your opponents. If someone takes it up, then you can play back over the top or check/raise him on the turn if you feel comfortable he is not making a play with a draw. If you are playing a multi-way pot I would try and check/raise the flop if you have to act early. Otherwise raising is the only play.

    These are my thoughts exactly.

I've regretted slow playing trips when a flush developes. It shits me no end. Its also compounded by the king oc.

I think you played it well. Make them pay bad pot odds if they want their flush.
