    Default My last MTT

Hello Everyone, I'm relatively new to FTR and I can say that this site has increased my play. Anyways, thanks to both Soupie's and Ripp's guides to MTT's I've been giving them a crack as of late. 4 nights ago I place 15th in the 20$ tournament (200+ people), won 48$. Couple nights ago I placed in a 5$ tournament taking 7th. And last night I played in a 2$ tournament of 2025 people and took 12th. My question is on the hand that crippled me, what you guys think of the play. This guy had been raising my BB for the past 4 hands and if I hadn't gotten absolute crap each time I probably would have at least pushed back.

I know I was the favorite post flop roughly 55% to 45% Should I have just called his bet, or was it inevitable that he was going to go all in with hardly any money left after the bet? I don't think I really had much fold equity if I called his bet so I felt like I had to push.

I don't think you did anything wrong here. He was trying to get you off the pot with a big bet to protect his top pair. He did also have the open endeded straight draw same as yourself (in fact the suited straight looks to tempting to lay down to me too) but you had the flush draw as well. In fact you could have hit 16 cards out of a possible 45 giving odds of less than 3 to 1 in my book - a bet I would have to have a stab at. Unfortunately for you luck wasn't on your side this time and thats just the way it goes.

I personally wouldn't have done any different than you did, but I must admit that I'm no expert!

Obvious play on the flop, that is a monster flop for you. I'm not sure I've ever had a flush draw, open ended straight draw, and a pair on a flop.

Preflop call is fine too. No reason to have any doubts about this play.

Agree, you played it just fine. If he had more chips I'll bet he would have laid down to your AI even with the pair. And you have solid outs against pretty much any hand he turns over.

    that's a fine play.

I think you're over 50% to win there.

9 outs for the flush + 7 outs for the straight - 2 outs already counted for the flush + 2 outs for the 9 = 16 outs.

straightflush draw + a pair is not a bad pushing hand.
    If I had a hammer
    I'd drop in the morning
    I'd drop in the evening..

Your play was perfect. Just the imperfection of the game. When those hands win for you that is when you win the tourneys. When those dont, you register for another one.

    Good luck,

    Soupie
