    Default more gutlessness

This is hand number _2_ of a 3 table MTT...
I figured both players for draws (1 was, 1 was... an idiot). It was SO early, I was not prepared to push on the turn, although that was the pro move. I twiched when the flush draw hit on the river, and then checked it down fearing some sly slowplay.

Totally weak, but how much are those 200 chips worth this early?

    himself fucker.
Nothing wrong with the check on the river in that situation. 2 check/calls from two other players and the river completing any 4 flush hands that were drawing. If you bet on the river and get raised can you call that? I don't think you could so just checking and seeing who wins is a good enough move.

Since I know y'all are on the edges of your seats here... I finished 2nd in this tourney. cole44 finished 3rd.

I did OK heads up, but I was outstacked 5:1... I got the ratio down to 3:1, but lost on this hand:

im no pro, but with AA, and a flop of 6-8-9, I think I would push on the flop, and take my chances he didnt flop the straight... give him something to think about if he wants to chase

He did push the flop. He bet 1K. And got called. It would be up in the air. But I'm thinking that the check on the turn told him you have AK, AQ, etc. And he had an opportunity to steal this pot away.

Maybe if you had gone all-in after the turn, it would be him folding his hand.
I don't know what they have to say
    It makes no difference anyway.
    Whatever it is...
    I'm against it.

I think that AA vs 689 flop hand was very winnable... but he has twice my stack. It's possible he had A-K/Q/J or low pair (flopped a set?) and called a 1000 chip bet...

So, I think in a NL ring game - I push all-in on the turn, but in a tourney...

    I say switch that around.

In a tournament - I push all-in on the turn. In a ring game. I play it a tad safer.

Depending on where you are in the tournament, both stack wise and position-wise. It's worth taking that gamble to get far in the tournament.

Actually, since I placed 2nd... with the laydown, it cost me at most $9 relative to the $37 I won.

Let's say the guy is ballsy and is bluffing 1/2 the time. 1/4th the time he has a straight, the other 1/4th he has a set. I am drawing dead against the straight, and have 2 outs against the set. (1 in 25)

I still have 3000 chips if I lay down, 0 if I call and lose, 9000 if I call and win.

Lets assume that the extra 6000 chips are enough to bump me from 2nd to 1st.

    So, if I call -
    52% - $45
    48% - $0

If I fold (in perfect 20-20 hindsight), I make $37, which is way more than 52% of $45.

Huge flaws in this argument... but there is is.

AQ: Looks ok. Check river is fine. If no flush straight/flush threat, I would bet the river. Although people like waiting to the river to re-raise with trips, etc. I would also consider all-in the the turn. Youll find someone with Ace Pair or flush draw might actually call.
AA: I might consider all-in on the flop.
