I make plays like this sometimes to make people think I'm a lot looser than I am, and set them up to take them big. I like the way you played the hand except for the turn, where you may have overbet a bit too much. A $20 -$30 bet probably would've had the same effect of getting him to fold, without as much risk. But, its kind of hard to tell exactly what the pot size and what your stack was at the time too, so it may have been justified.
Anyway, I like it, but recommend for beginning players to never try something like this in a NL ring game. Especially with the small stack size compared to the big preflop bet though, you gotta tighten up after that, and make sure you have a hand the next time you call a big preflop bet and then shove in. You've set yourself up to get called a lot more often after showing that one, which is great for you if you tighten up at the right time.
