    Default Final 4

Final 4 in a live tournament and I was the small stack. The blinds were huge like online, but i needed chips fast. The player in 5th was just eliminated and I was now on the button. The huge stack to my right folded. I decided to try and steal by betting half my stack (around 2 X BB). The SB folded but the BB re-raised me. I had to fold.

He later told me he had AA. Two hands later I was BB and ended up being knocked out when i was raised all in and pretty much had to call.

Should I have waited a bit longer in hopes of a semi-decent hand, or was I just unlucky to run into aces in the blind?

    Wastin' away again in margaritaville....
Unlucky timing, but I don't know if you can really expect to steal that short stacked by only raising 1 big blind. The other guys can correct me if they disagree but with only 4x the BB in chips I am thinking all-in or fold. You'll give more power to your raise by pushing it all in, if you get nailed by aces in the blinds... oops That short stacked, I am not inclined to try to steal. I am looking to push with something that I have a reasonable chance at a coin-flip or better if called.

    anyone see fault in that?

Sorry, I probably should have also asked what the other stacks looked like.

    But I shall pushon without.

I'm going to assume that everyone else has atleast 10BB. If that's the case, you're only two moves are push or fold. If you push for all 4BB, you'll have a better chance to get the blinds. Also, it's kind of wierd that such a short stack *not* push if he's intending to play the hand.

You're a long shot. You've just gotta hope to push and not be dominated.

    Thanks for the responses.

For clarification, I made a raise of 3BB but seeing as he was in the BB it was only 2BB to call. I wanted to take the blinds but not risk all my stack, just incase. Both the blinds were pretty tight, even short handed. The SB had a nice stack, the BB was just a bit more than me and I figured he'd fold unless he had a strong hand.

Unlucky that he had AA, but I think I should have waited a bit longer, and then pushed rather than just raised.

Whether or not you push or fold depends on payout structure and whether you want to place in the money or win it.
What's the difference between a large cheese pizza and a poker player?

A large cheese pizza can feed a family of four.

I wasn't really sure to be honest. Maybe I'll think about that next tourney we have.
