You need to let the other guys make the mistakes in MTT. In the first one, you looked to be in fine chip position. I don't hate the play w/ 74 but there was no need to get cute at that point. As soon as you meet resistance or miss the flop, get out. It is espically bad if your opponent has an almost equal stack or chip lead.
If you had him covered 4:1 then you can go "rippy" on him.
Second one is just poker. However, you did make one huge tournament poker mistake - you put all of your chips at risk without knowing that you had a lock on the hand against a bigger stack. Your raise was fine but an observant opponent has you pegged on a big pair or 2 big cards. He flopped the nuts but you couldn't know that. However, maybe he flopped a baby set. Bet the pot to find out where you stand.
You could have easily kept yourself in the game by betting the pot on the flop. If your opponent smooth calls or re-raised, maybe you could bring yourself to get away from those rockets. I say "maybe" because my read would have been that he had a big overpair like KK or QQ in which case you would have doubled up. That's the way the it goes sometimes.
