    Default Critiqe please

OK, same bar tournament structure as my last post:
    • NLHE
    • You get 500 in chips
    • Everyone antes 10 every round, button antes 20
    • Button gets dealt first and acts first

Again, I'm late getting to the table and several players have doubled thier stacks or more by the time I've gotten to sit down. I've seen a cheap flop or two, but no action for me yet. My stack is down to 350 and I'm in very early position when I get:

Pot is at 120 from antees
I bet 50 (standard to low bet for the table) hoping to clear the table of garbage and for a raise from someone else that I can jump on.

Most players fold, 2 players just call. One from MP, the other from the button.

    Flop comes:

    button checks to me
I bet 100 (again hoping for more action)
MP goes all-in for 400ish (slightly more than I have)
    button folds
I call with the remainder of my stack

I think I can predict the responses I'm going to get... but I want to see them anyway to help it sink into my thick skull.

I call. In a heartbeat. He's got AJ or KJ, more than likely. There's a possibility that he's got an overpair or a set, but I'll pay to see it, personally.

    Anyone else?

The pot is 120 and you bet 50 into it, making it 170 giving anyone who decides to call you greater then 3:1 for their money. this is asking someone to call you not discouraging. This should have been a pot size bet IMO (simply because that blind structure sucks, it sounds like the fish flow through there, and you really don't have the luxery of waiting around).

I'm guess a guy hit 2 pair on a J6 pair or trip'd the flop. Or something similar.

Yeah, thats what I've been thinking too. I was hesitant to hit it too hard in the begining because it seams a shame to scare them all off for just the antee's and "waste" a premium hand, but the more I think about it the more sure I am that while there are very few other hands you would rather have this hand is best used for just that purpose... blind/ante stealing.

    His cards were:
    6c 6s
I got no help on the turn or river

Chances are he probably would have called you anyway, however atleast by a large raise you gave yourself more of an opportunity to win, and you might have scared him out and taken enough chips to put you back near even and still in the game.

Depends on the table. If it's an aggressive table, yah. But if it's mostly loose/passive fish and there's a good chance that its 6ways to the flop with no raise, then no.

well what are you trying to accomplish witht he check raise? Just padding more chips into the pot. Do you think the guy holding 6's is more likely to fold after throwing more money in the pot?
would he even have respect for a CR? Yes he may say "hmm Kings or Aces" if he is a solid player. Or he may say "Hmm I could be beatbut i could be drawing against overs... these are the best cards I've seen in a while, and thats a decent pot."

Could you have done it? yes
Would it have more of an impact? Really depends on the player

I'm thinking its a very good chance someone would have bet. If not the guy who stayed in then certainly the guy on the button. In the dozen or so hands I had seen before this hand only one made it to the flop without some sort of bet. The guy in MP had sat down a handfull of hands before this play and I doupt he would have risked his stack on the cards pre-flop... but I could be wrong about that.

In my eyes you have played this well, he has played his very poorly.

That flop is rainbow without a real straight draw in sight, and your betting? He can put you on any high J, which means that even if you hit another J you still havent got it won. Or an overpair which means you have a whole TWO outs to beat him.

Why risk your fold? Im sandbagging that hand to death.

Let it go, and try to sit with that guy as much as possible.
