    Default Hand Critique

Ok so I played a 1500 player tourney last night with my new philosophy: grow a set and play aggressive. Blinds are now 300/600 and I am currently in 68th place with 170 players left. I have amassed $14,000 chips without really getting a big hand yet, just by stealing when it looks good. All of a sudden a new guy joins our table and starts raising the minimum almost every hand. He has $22,000. So a few hands go by, I am dealt AQ suited in big blind. He is in small blind and raises minimum(600) so I figure he is betting his trash again and I raise to $5,000. Rest of table folds, he calls. Flop comes K 5 2 with the 5 and 2 in my suit. He checks so I go all in figuring I can hit my flush, my ace, or get him to fold. Was this a good play or should I have just checked back and saw the turn for free? Thanx in advance for any advice, ill post the outcome for you guys after some responses.

you are about 40% favorite against any pairs

looks good considering size of pot + risk of getting bet to on turn if checked

very very tough call here, I think this guy was slow playing his trip kings or TP, let me guess, he called you and you missed you flush?? Ok I guess it wasnt a bad play considering the risk/size of the pot, I just wouldnt do it b/c i dont want some guy slow playing his set to leace me drwaing to the flush alone. Im not criticizing your play by any means, im just saying I wouldnt do it and that stage in the tourney. To give an example, lets say this guy is slo playing a monster, you check the flop and turn gives you the flush, if he has a monster hell be scared of the flush so he will bet big, then you can easily push and score a huge pot...just my .02, probably wrong but what the heck..

he bets into you because he sees 3 to suit?

when a scare card hits the board you want to see were u are at that point, most player will make a feeler bet to test the waters, I made a mistake in saying he would bet big, but he would possibly make some sort of bet just to see if he got his flush...

He actually played K-3 suited. He hit top pair with the worst kicker and called off the majority of his stack with that. I made the correct read that he was playing garbage, I guess I just underestimated how loose he was. My flush never came and neither did my ace. I wonder if he actually checked his king thinking he was going to trap me with his top pair bottom kicker "monster". Haha....gotta love players like this in the long run though.

P.S. His suit was not the flush suit on the flop so he didnt even have that draw to justify it.
