Default like a damn scene from Rounders

last night I got 2nd place in a $10 NL tournament, my final hand was 5,9

    flop was 5,5,A

now, I have trip 5's right? And not even a few minutes before the guy was complaining how he kept getting screwed by A-X hands(and he was), so i'm like, hmmm he doesn't have it does he?

    flop comes, 5,5,A, A

i bet, bastard called my bet, then i went all in, and he flopped an A,9....

just a bad night for me, plus it was like 3am

More like a damn scene from any given table on any given night...

Not to assume much about the particulars of the betting that was happening.... But it sounds like he's in the small blind based on the fact you are playing 59. So he completes the blind, probably not a total crap hand. If you have any reason to be suspicious that he could have made two pair on the flop (ie, you have position on him and are probably getting a good read), just go all in. If he made two pair, he'll call and that's awesome for you because he's a huge underdog. Otherwise he'll fold and you'll still take a nice pot.

Sorry but letting him see the turn seems like a big mistake if there was any action on the flop.

this is correct. Bet the flop. The turn is read based decision, but all-in with a second-place hand isn't smart.
