When you DONT have position

First I wanted to thank everyone here for all the help. I finally placed for the first time in a MTT. I came in 29th out of 311. I hope to build on that,

Now I use an agressive style when I played (stealing blinds, etc) but I feel I should of shifted to tight once the game got down to the final 40.

My question is at one table I had a person doing the same thing I was infront of me. I was thinking "ok raise 3x BB" and before I know it the pot gets raised by the person before be 3x BB.

How do you guys handle that situation? Do you just play tighter or do you throw a re-raise at them with decent holdings?

I think its the best thing if you have position on a frequent raiser.

If you have a hand re-raise them. but if you call be carefull with the aggressive play that he might do later in that hand.
