Default Going to Foxwoods.. (late March)

    Anyone in that area?

I'm going up to CT to visit family the end of March.. Figured I'd catch a drink with anyone up in that area.

No sure how much time I'll have for the tables, but i'm going to be there for a full week so I'm sure I'll find plenty of time.

    I plan to be there March 25th - 29th.

Hey dude. I happen to be off from work that weekend and will absolutely see about meeting you up there. Depends on if there are any family activities going on that week. My wife has a habit of planning things months in advance.

If we're gonna play some poker. The earlier the better on weekends as tables fill up pretty fast. I have a couple buddies who might want to come along to. Could be fun. Foxwoods is the only game in town since the Mohegan Sun shut down their poker room.

Let's keep in touch on this. I'm about due for a Casino Night. :P

Fyr, My girls the same way.. when i want to plan something i always end up checking HER calander to make sure its open.

Mohegan Sun shut down the poker room? Strange because with teh poker boom you'd think they would be adding more.

I will post a bit more once plans are completly solid. (requesting vacation time from work blah blah.)

I may be. Not quite sure if I have anything going on that day.
What limits you guys plan on playing? I'm assuming the $1-$2 game?
I'm about 2 hours/hour and a half from Foxwoods and have been wanting to go up there for awhile now.

i was also surprised at Mohigan shutting thier pr down. My girlfriends parents go there and take us there for dinner with thier wampum bucks. I hate being in a casino and not having the option to play poker. Makes the blackjack tables look good....

They are turning the pr into a high stakes slot room (dumb) but i heard they have some grand plans for a new poker room. I hope so, it's alot closer than foxwoods

I believe the lowest Hold'em limit is 2/4. At least it was the last time I went. The 1/2 game is usually 7CS. They have different buyins for NL.

I usually play the 2/4 hold'em. But will give NL a shot if that's what everybody's up for.

They also have tournies on the weekends. I'll check out what they got going on.

After going through the link. It should be a great time as your visit coincides with the New England Poker Classic Satellites. Going to be a busy, busy poker room for sure. Unfortunately, unless we're playing the Classic Satellites, we're not gonna catch any tourney action.

Yea, i saw that NEPC was going on, won't get to play any tourneys while i'm there buti'm sure I'll have a good time anyways.
  21. #21
Yes we will. The 2/4 limit game is quite fishy. The hardest game to bust is the 1/2 7CS. All the oldtimers play it and fold unless they have the nuts. Very boring.

Totally agree. Alot of Metrosexuals there. There was a 1/2 NL game? I never see that when I go. I must not show up at the right time. Is it always running and I just miss it?

Just keeping the topic fresh. Move along.

Besides myself and Mike are there any others interested in having an East Coast FTR meet up around the time he's here? I know it' kinda bad timing with the N.E. Poker Clasic going on, but there is still great poker to be played none the less. I do believe they run the Classic in the hotel part of the Casino.

I've played at Foxwoods a lot lately on Saturdays. If you don't want to wait 1-3 hours for a table, get there before noon. 10-10:30 am seems to be about perfect, as they start opening some tables that broke in the early morning. If you show up in late afternoon, it will probably take 2 hours to get a table, regardless of what you play. $2/$4 always has an incredibly long waiting list.

There are $2/$4, $4/$8, and higher LIMIT tables. There are $1/$2, $5/$5, and higher NO LIMIT tables. I've been playing $1/$2 NL and love it. (In 5 visits I'm up $800, which I think is pretty good.)

I don't know what I'm doing that weekend yet, but will definitely try to find you guys if I go. Everybody needs to buy an FTR shirt or hat and wear it.

BTW ... I heard that Mohegan's poker room closed because of "drugs and prostitution".

RERAISE in the hizzy. Hey Zangief, why don't ya come sit in the 5/5 game? You gotta have the dough, slumlord.

My advice at Foxwoods: Eat a variety off the menu. It's hard to live on Chicken fingers and fries for 16 hours, unless you like rock solid shits.

That, and find Mechelle and give her your best pickup line.

For all those without the secret decoder ring.

Some of the guys are going to be meeting at Foxwoods on March 26th, 2005 at around 5pm/6pm.

If you're down let me know. Will probably meet up in the sportsbook right next to the poker room.

I myself am making a day of it. So I'll probably get there even earlier.

Just bringing this thread to the top so people will be aware of it. This is tomorrow night.

I doubt I'll be able to make it then. I'll be with family for Easter.

But I will probably be there tonight! So if you see a guy who looks absolutely nothing like the picture on the left playing $1/$2 NL with a big stack of chips ... say hi. In reality, I've got medium length brown hair, brown eyes, kind of a stocky build, and am usually unshaven. Just picture a software engineer that drinks a lot of Mountain Dew. Tonight I will be wearing a black collared shirt.

Actually, maybe I'll bust out the mohawk ....

It was a good night for me. I played from about 7 pm until about 4 am. I got AA twice, KK four times, and QQ three times ... mostly near the beginning of the night. I've never seen so many big pairs in one session before. And they all held up. I left up $530.

There was this guy there who was either a complete nutjob or a very good actor. He would go all-in with any and every hand ... sometimes before the flop and sometimes on the flop. He was wearing a safari hat and sunglasses. And he brought several thousand dollars worth of chips with him ... in a big sock. Every time he got beat, he said to the dealer in the same exact tone, "I'll rebuy for $40, okay?"

I was lucky enough to catch KK right after he won a $140 pot ... so I took his stack. Next hand, I got QQ and took his $40 rebuy. Other than being entertaining, he also have me a chunk of my profit for the night.

Anyway, I hope you guys are doing well tonight. I wish I could be there.

The first rule about Project Foxwoods is not to discuss Project Foxwoods.

Just wanna say had a great time with Tyler and Mike. Wish more of you could have come. It was a mad house though. Good 1 1/2 to 2 hours for a table. Only thing you could jump right in on was the 5/10 limit. And only because that limit (And only that limit for some reason) had a kill pot every time it got over a $100.00. So basically you were playing 10/20 limit the majority of the time.

I just wanna give Foxwoods the big FU for not letting me snap some pics of the poker room. Their Gestapo....ahem I mean security would only let you snap pics outside on the concourse. So I wish I could have had some pics for you guys. I do have a group shot I'll post later on.

Does anyone have a place I could post other than the yahoo picture place I use? So I can use the [image][image] feature here?

Yeah it was a good time. I think if it weren't a holiday weekend we could have had a couple more people show up. I know I had fun. After talking to Mike and Tyler. I realized that I'm not in the FTR loop as much as I thought I was. I need to get in on that FTR on IRC thing.

One idea was broached by Tyler. When Rilla' becomes legal. We have his 21st bash up in AC at either the Borgata or Taj. What say you Rilla'?

Mike has some other pics I hope he'll post.

And I've also determined that the 1/2 NL game at Foxwoods is like a .05/.10 NL on Stars. No respect for raises at all. And people will call you down with crap (Right Tyler?). Unfortunately for me I left that game about $50 down to a bad beat. But won back all I lost and a little more playing 5/10 limit/kill pot. All in all I played at least a good 7 hrs. of poker. The cards were cold for the most part of the day. And my tight image hurt me when I would bet out or raise. My best play of the day was bluffing with a pair of nines to another guys kings for a good sized pot.

And during the course of the day. I saw what it was like to play against a Riptyde type player. Of all the 1/2 NL players I observed yesterday. Only two people looked to making any considerable amount of money. The guy at my table. And another older gentleman who quickly transformed his $100 buyin to just about $1,000. But the guy at my table left with about $700. He would play just about any hand. And if he caught any part of the flop he would either raise it big and scare everyone off or just outdraw you. And the rush he was on was unreal. River straights and flushes. He was always good for two pair. You name it.

And funny enough. Any time I got into the pot he would fold to me. He actually told me I was to careful a player to go heads up with. Go figure.

The 1/2 at Foxwoods is like playing online. Everyone chases and wins. Only Zangief seems to win consistently at that limit.

    Since I've moved up to 5/5 I've had 8 wins in 9 sessions. I was a bit over 50% at the 1/2.

Just to be clear, let me say: the 1/2 NL game is absolutely AWESOME and if I had the roll I'd be going down there to play at least every couple of weeks. I just had a bad day at it. The important thing to note is to figure out which players you can make plays at (usually no more than a couple of them) and which are going to pay off your monsters.

This is one of the things that makes the $1/$2 game so good (for me, at least).

I raise to $10 with KK from the button with several folds in front of me. I get 2-3 callers. The flop is Q-rag-rag. The big blind bets $30, I raise to $60. The small blind goes all-in for about $45. The big blind calls my raise. He checks to me on the turn rag, I bet $50, he folds. Turns out the big blind had Q9 and the small blind had Q8. Ridiculous. The river was a blank and I took down a $200 pot instead of $3 in blinds.

"I definitely didn't put you on kings." Yeah ... but did you put me on Q7? Ha!

To get real respect for your raises, you need to raise to about $20. But I find $15 is about the sweet spot where people call with just enough crap to make it worthwhile.

That is not like online at all. Everyone that chases does not win and the game is very beatable.

Yeah, and while I read this reply I flop a K high straight and reraise all in for 400 bucks, what do you know the dumbass calls with A high and hits his draw.

I understand your point, but I don't believe you digested mine. The point is the 1/2 at Foxwoods is just as chase happy as online poker. Move up to 55, put someone in for 2000 bucks, VERY different scenario.

I'm glad online poker is chase happy, it's how most of us make money, regardless of stake.

True, but you can't tell me you don't often put out a 4th street bet that is uncallable odds wise for a player chasing a straight or flush, desperately trying to take the pot down right there. Say, a $400 bet into a $300 pot heads up. You WANT him to fold. MY POINT IS at the lower levels AT FOXWOODS, they will call. At the 5/5, they will pass, or occasionally a tricky player will raise (which is a giant improvement to calling).

OK I've officially beat this horse into it's grave. Carry on.

You want them to call when they don't have odds. That's how you make money.

Oh yeah I know, I like when they call to such tremendous odds.

Now post the 20 times where they didn't hit the gutshot and we can say how much money you've made. Or you can just post the bad beats...

Or how about putting a stop to this thread hijacking?

Mike where are those pics at?

And on another note. How many people here are Foxwoods regulars? Like at least once or twice a week? What's the income potential there?

I think the income potential playing $1/$2 NL on Saturdays is quite good. I've been playing about twice a month on average (so not quite a regular). Also, I'm sure someone with more experience could make quite a bit more than I do.

Given that, some nights are horrible. I went on Friday. When I sat down, the table was amazing - almost every hand was raised and re-raised pre-flop. Then people would showdown with stuff like KJo or 66! I was just waiting for a good hand to double or triple up.

But then all of the maniacs left and the table became rock village. ... And this continued for the rest of the night. It sucked.
