    Default KJs on button

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, 3.3 Tournament, 50/100 Blinds (9 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from http://flopturnriver.com/

    Hero (Button) (t3,365)
    SB (t1,680)
    pelion (BB) (t1,030)
    UTG (t1,685)
    UTG+1 (t930)
    rong (MP1) (t1,725)
    MP2 (t2,820)
    MP3 (t5,240)
    CO (t1,895)

    Hero's M: 22.43

Preflop: Hero is Button with J, K
2 folds, fishy bollocks raises to t250, 3 folds Hero???

Ok let's tidy this up a little.

I haven't got a hud running because this computer sucks and it's either a HUD or music, not both. Music wins.

Doesn't matter, because it's a table full of FTRers!
I have notes on dan... "fishy bollocks"
    Notes on pelion... "lynch pelion"

Dan opens. I want to call because I have a nice hand on the button. But pelion is sitting on the bb with a short stack as is likely to be shoving wide. Dan will know this, and is likely to ISO if pelion shoves, knowing full well I 3bet anything I'm willing to stack him with.

3betting doesn't seem smart seeing as it narrows pelion's stacking range to stuff that beats me, even worse if dan continues.

    Folding seems super nitty.

    Thoughts?

My problem of course is I expect you to shove when I call, which is great if dan folds because KJs is prob not faring too bad against you here, but even then I'm not sure. But if dan reraises, which I expect him to do, then I have to fold. I don't expect to see flops all that often. But KJs on the button! I felt like a right fucking nit folding this.

What's my range? I'd been playing tighter than a badger in a sock. You need to hit 2p + to take my money. Fold that shit and don't think of it again.

Pelion plays too nitty with a short stack but you weren't to know that in game.

I'm actually stuck here. It's definitely not a 3bet spot for me, because if we 3bet we're overrepping our hand v a mid position 2.5x open by a 17bb stack and I just don't think rong opens light there. Flatting becomes a lot easier when we know that Pelion is nitty with a short stack - if you hadn't picked that up at this point I'd just fold. If you had I'd flat as we put rong in a bit of an awkward spot given his stack size making a c-bet/fold awkward and we have enough to push him about post and make him make tough decisions OOP

if there were antes this would be more difficult. just call and outplay him post

Dan, I dunno what your range is, I haven't got a HUD running so I dunno how tight you're playing. But I know you're distracted by GTA, so you're probably just auto shoving your entire opening range if pelion shoves after I call, while laughing at me for putting dead money into the pot. I can't play my hand for stacks vs you, so I folded but I felt so fucking weak doing so.

Thanks for your post pascal, that makes a lot of sense. Yeah I didn't realise pelion was tight with a short stack. I expected a wide shoving range from him.

Yeah no antes. Assuming bb is an unknown, do you still flat this bikes?

Probably but I havent played a sng in a long time. Flatting looks super strong here but I dont expect anyone to realizr that. Also considering this is an ftr tournament I am not folding anything to begin with

....we know that Pelion is nitty with a short stack ....
    Lol. Obvious bitterpost :P

FWIW Pasc, I didn't shove pre vs you because I felt you were playing kinda recklessly with a large stack (I think I saw you call a pretty chunky allin with like T2o?), meaning I could:

    a) Get it in post with you when I flopped top pair and you didn't
    and
    b) Get away from it when I missed.
    and avoid
    c) You would call wide with your monster stack and bust me with T2o.

Now, all of these would not have been great reasons to avoid a potential lead in a nice race for a double up apart from:

    d) The guy to my left was almost constantly sat out, and I was able to blindsteal just about every BU and CO with little resistance.

Are these good reasons in a tournament? I honestly have no idea, but I felt like it was working fairly well at the time.

lol I'm assuming this is because you are confident you can outplay just about everyone post flop?

I didn't take into account that the guy to pelion's left was sitting out and as such pelion can steal a lot more to keep afloat, thus reducing to need for him to defend his blind aggressively.

Thanks for the replies guys, this was a fun game.

There was another tight fold I made, 99 on the bb vs a 12bb shove, I knew little about the guy who shoved. He showed 66. I put him on 88+ and lots of overcards type hands, just didn't seem worth the risk of flipping when it would've crippled me, I was in reasonable shape at the time. That fold didn't bother me as much because most of the time I am flipping there, and sometimes crushed. But this KJs I really wanted to play and feel like I should've done.

somewhat this, mostly i want to have fun with ftr members i know and having fun trying to outplay each other is worth significantly more than 3.5 imo. esp if you are friends or acquaintances with them.

folding 99 with 12bb seems ludicrous btw.

Yeah when he showed 66 I thought "stupid fold" but I folded because I figured I'm usually racing, and more often dominated than dominant. It seemed close, so I didn't risk it. I was stacked at around 20-25 bb at the time.

    This is a clear re-steal.
