Let this go multiway?

    Default Let this go multiway?

    Normally, I never even really consider trapping with AA/KK, not in a single raised pot anyhow. This seemed like it might be a really good spot though, because obviously it looks super strong 3b'ing the UTG opener anyway, and UTG here is going to be worried that if he flats a 3bet the SB will ship. UTG also might know that I know that, so it turns my hand even more face up if I 3bet.

    UTG is reggy, 25/22, 9% 3bet, positionally aware and tight utg.
    SB is 21/9 over 60 hands, 4% 3bet, looks like a somewhat tight fish.

    Thoughts?

    BTN: $10.60 (106 bb)
    SB: $3.44 (34.4 bb)
    Hero (BB): $16.69 (166.9 bb)
    UTG: $10.64 (106.4 bb)

    CO: $10.63 (106.3 bb)

    Preflop: Hero is BB with K K
    UTG raises to $0.30, 3 folds, SB calls $0.25

    I think I just like to raise against utg's pretty tight range. Can't see he has much he folds. Maybe AQ. But then again we're squeezing from the bb, he'll have position post flop, I think he always calls or 4bets because his range is already strong. And if he calls, who knows what sb will do with a pocket pair. Maybe he tries to get AK isolated by shoving, or some stupid thinking like that. He's only short stack, he's gonna be prone.

    Yeah just raise imo. I prob go $0.95. Ideally we want utg to call and sb to "what the hell" shove. Then we have a call or raise decision.

    Definitely squeeze. If you think it looks too strong then add more bluffs, instead of balancing by removing KK from your squeeze range.

    I don't hate trapping but it'll make postflop a little more tricky so I'd rather do it in position, even better with fish in the blinds. I like 3-betting here for value of course but also to charge utg for drawing to a set or ace. The tag's utg range is primarily big aces and pocket pairs. If you stack him it'll often be when he has like TT-QQ on a low board or possibly when he has AQ-AJ and flops tptk.

    Sometimes people think that it's bad to play big pairs multi-way because there's a greater chance of getting sucked out on. That's really not true. Of course the win percentage will go down but that is more than compensated for by the bigger pots. Having a big pair is the most profitable situation in poker and it's even better multi-way. Of course you don't want to be a retard about it postflop but we don't 3-bet to get heads up. We 3-bet for value.

    CO 12.97% 11.88% 1.09% { 99+, ATs+, KQs, AQo+ }
    BU 12.83% 11.74% 1.09% { 99+, ATs+, KQs, AQo+ }
    SB 12.92% 11.82% 1.10% { 99+, ATs+, KQs, AQo+ }
    BB 12.92% 11.84% 1.08% { 99+, ATs+, KQs, AQo+ }

    So if we got all-in preflop with KK heads up we'd make 0.68 * 200 = 136 bb.

    But if we could get all-in preflop 6-way we'd make 0.35 * 600 = 210 bb.

    It's one thing to play KK multiway when we're on the BTN IP the whole hand, but it's another thing entirely when we're OOP. Also SB's range for flatting UTG is probably pretty tight, which means his range is moderately strong and would have more hands to potentially flat a sq by you, assuming UTG doesn't.
