Default Arrgh, A problem I must fix...

It's like my version of the Matsow blowup.

    Let me set the stage:

    I have 2400 chips.
Blinds are 100/200 with 25 ante.
    4 are left.
    BB has 2600 chips

    I'm on the button with K T
    UTG folds
    Button(me) raises to 550.
    SB folds.
    BB(thinking tagg) calls.
    Flop: Q 7 3
    BB checks

Reasonable flop for me to have hit, and I bet when I have a hand, so I will need to make a continuation bet.

    The problem:

I had 2400 chips at the start of the hand, I currently have 1825 left, and a reasonable bet of 700 (The pot is currently at 1300)will leave me with 1125 chip in my stack... more than half my chips [1,275] will be in the pot.

    Whats the best move here?

Just make the continuation bet and hope he folds? (what I normally do)
Should I just put it all in? (I do that sometimes as well)
    Is checking an option?
Is better less than half the pot an option?

How should I be playing this?

    Q. Is poker Gambling?
    A. Do you use correct bankroll management?

I don't really think you can c-bet this without pushing. Any decent c-bet leaves you committed, and you may as well get max folding equity when you bet. So unless he has a monster in his hole cards, he can't call without a queen.

I think that checking is an option, but then you pretty much give the pot away unless you hit on the turn.

Yeah, but pushing screams "I HAVE NOTHING!!"

You just dont see players pushing with a queen in this situation very often...

    I think your right though...

I just hate to put it all in with nothing...

But you cant just give away that pot...

    ...

    ...

I should be pushing preflop there I guess (M=6)...

I just hate pushing on the bubble with a hand like that, and you cant just wait with how fast the blinds are coming...

Over the last 212 SnG's, I've been ITM 43.4% of the time... So I'm not doing badly, I just dont like any of my options in that situation... preflop or postflop...

not necessarily, it could suggest you have a hand but don't like the look of the two 's that dropped in and the only way you can protect your hand against the draw is by making someone gamble with their entire stack.

Like Staresy said, not necessarily. And even if your opponent thought you probably had nothing, he still couldn't call you unless he had a hand.

I do agree that it's kind of a yucky spot to be in.

    does anyone push preflop?

I notmally dont push preflop in a SnG until my sack is down to less than 10BB's ... (note: this is diffrent that a MTT .. and it's also the reason I sometimes get into the situation mentioned in the first post.)

In a SnG, this gives you nearly as good of a chance of picking up the blinds as a push with half the risk.

In a MTT you need to double up 7-11 times that you need to put your self in that situation much more often. In a SnG, you really only need at double up less than 4 times.

I could be totally wrong in this line of thinking though... Thoughts?
