    Default Bubble Decision PP 30 + 3

Hey everyone....been lurking for a month or two and love the site

Anyways quick background, been playing for about three months. (all at PP) I play SNGs at the 10+1 level and ima little above break even after 200. (up about $200)
I'd say im avg at MTTs and am easing my way into them. I've had two FTs (5th and 7th) and 2 13ths with a handful of other moneys.

now that all that's outta the way here's my question about a hand from tonight that's bugging the crap outta me.

95 people left pays to 80 avg chip stack is around 7500.

Only reads i've got on munks are an all in call of a shortstack when he held Aces and a folded check raise attempt that went wrong, the latter of the two reads obviously got me thinking.......

??? Where to go from here?

Unless I pinned him on nothing but group0/1 type hands UTG (AA/KK/QQ/JJ/AK) I'm pushing. Theres a good chance he is trying to buy this pot, but Anna could be there. Extremely hard to get me off this hand.. I'm probably taking my chances of going broke here.

lack of reads killed me here...ida really liked to have had more hands to watch at this table....the min raise UTG confused me...being this late in the tourney and munks with the above avg stack it was hard for me to get a line on him with that kind of raise....i hate min raises....haha oh well....i figured him for a high pocket pair 10's up and being stubborn and having me covered he was making a steal attempt....

would anyone have re-raised or possibly pushed pre-flop here? hoping to get a fold as he wouldnt want to risk more than half his stack without a flop?
  4. #4
    anyways...i push....he turns over 66.....gg me

just waded through 2200 people in a 10 + 1 only to bust out with Ah10h
with top pair and drawing to the nut flush on the river....river comes another ace so im sort of happy.....villain puts me all in, i call and he turns over AK gg me again.....with a giant net profit of 8 bucks....

tonight ain my night for trip aces......

pre flop I'm often folding here, re raise and call are OK too I think tho, in that order. Folding more AQ-AT s EP or to raises has really lowered the stress level.

Once you've called you can't fold on the flop IMO. You can't call hoping for trip Js+ (but not trip As).

the nice thing about re raising pre flop is if you get called you can assume you're way behind and play from there

i've been working on laying down my good but not great hands but obviously i need to continue....thanks for the feedback....if im in EP id call and fold to any re-raise...but the min raise and me being in late position was a recipe for disaster i suppose....interesting about the re-raise and playing as if i was behind.....i like that best i think as my frame of mind would make a fold a little less bothersome to me....

most importantly i need to learn from my mistakes as the similar situation i faced later on at the 10 + 1 i mentioned definitely warranting me to fold as i was as nearly priced in and had a much larger stack......

any advice on this hand would be helpful too for anyone who has the time

background is that yakko had just sat down at our table maybe played two hands so no reads.....146 people left out of 2300 so im ITM but looking to build big here..... im about 2gs above avg chip stack at the time

i guess the easy reply here would be to have folded the A 10 pre flop.....id like to think had the heart not come on the turn id have folded but with that and the previous cards even if he holds bigger ace ive got the tens and hearts......just left frustrated with these plays

Position position position. AT is intruiging, I'll admit it. But the only hands I play in the SB\BB and UTG are very premium hands (at a 9seat table). AA KK QQ JJ AK AQs AJs etc. If you're interested, I can send you a starting hand chart I made based off a bunch of research I did. I can't justify it being the nuts, because I don't beleive any such chart exists, but it should at minimal make you discplined for your position vs your hand.

cool check your pms dzl...ill take all the help i can get especially if itll help me break past this MTT wall.....i seem to cruise fairly well playing ABC poker up to the ITM and with a good percentage into it but when i get ambitious and try to build i seem to run into these buzzsaws....

AT - the flop bet should scare u but not that much cause there's no PF raise, if u reraise him to 6k you'd have found out there that you were beat if he pushed and maybe saved yourself some chips, but an AK limp there is always hard to spot

    1) I would complete every time here out of the SB, but it does add varience to your game.

    2) Really tough spot. I'm OK paying off a limped AK here, but you shouold be worried about AQ and AJ and especially A9, which all make more sense.

    3) the heart on the turn makes me less likely to bet. If you have him beat, there isn't much danger in giving a free card here. If you don't, you don't want to get raised here and have to fold, because if he has a set/two pair and you make a runner flush after betting the flop you'll probably de stack him (you would de stack me, anyway). And if he is ahead of you the only hand he might fold to your bet is AJ.

    4) If the worst thing that ever happens is you get out kicked making trips, you'll be OK.

thanks for the feedback on the A 10 hand guys....i guess what happened was a case of me getting pulled in by TP decent kicker.....id probably save myself chips if i remember why i start out playing a hand. in this case it was to look for flush or straight possibilities and play with an ace on board but be willing to lay it down to any strength....i just sorta got suckered in with that heart and figured even if he held A 9 i still had the tens as outs....and if it was a bigger ace my outs increased to any other board cards pairing on the river plus my hearts.....i think the lesson ill learn here is when in doubt....fold when theres meat on the bone as per the sticky.....
