bet flop, raise turn more, raise the river. The weak river bet by opp doesn't seem like a J. If you get reraised substantially, then you can mull it over.
    AWOL.

Actually I think he has a jack here the majority of the time, but the bet is so small that you might as well pay it off.

unless opp is particularly passive or particularly cunning, i'd lean away from putting him on a J.
    AWOL.

    People,

In my experience if a 4-card straight or a 4-card flush gets there on the river and someone bets into you like this, a significant majority of the time they have the hand. If I had the jack, I would definitely bet out, because I would be thinking, if this guy doesn't have a straight, he'll just check behind, so the only way I'll get paid is if I bet.

That being said, I'm sure some people would check with a jack, hoping to check-raise you. It'd be a pretty bad play but people do it all the time anyway. I think betting 30 like this guy did, is also bad, no matter what he has. I would bet at least 100 if I were him.

    A straight??
Which likely wouldn't even be a consideration if...

Bet the flop. If anyone calls (which I doubt), bet the turn when they check to you.

As played, just call the river. Given that he bet the turn for the same amount, this looks more like an attempt to showdown cheap than a made straight trying to induce a raise, but it's just too easy for him to have the J.

I'm only responding to the river call, 'cos you botched this hand up pretty well (which I've done a number of times myself).

On the river, you're getting 8:1 to call this. Which means, if you call and win this river bet 12% of the time because your hand is better, you're making a profit.

    Bet the flop
    Bet the turn
    Call the river bet
