    Default Lay Down Queens Here?

    I did :

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t100 (6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

    CO (t2485)
    Button (t3050)
    SB (t1900)
    BB (t805)
    UTG (t3010)
    Silverfist (t2250)

Preflop: Silverfist is MP with Q, Q.
1 fold, Silverfist raises to t300, CO raises to t500, 2 folds, BB raises to t805, Silverfist folds, CO calls t305.

    Final Pot: t1960

NO, I never (almost never) lay down queens in SNGs preflop. But I certainly never lay down queens once I've committed chips and the blinds are this high.

Edit: I should add, that the buyins that you're likely playing, and the donkeys that play them, you're way ahead of their range.

I would call here. I dont mind the shorty going AI but I am more concerned about the other players min-raise PF. Has he done anything like this before? I still call and proceed with caution.

You still have almost 20BB's left after the fold so I dont think you are "committed" in any way.

Wouldn't the opposite be true? At a high buyin I wouldn't expect that minraise to 500 to be aces or kings, but at a lower buyin this seems to be SOP.

I call, depending on my opinion of their skill level.

No, people who know how to play poker, do not identify their hand, and then give proper odds to stack off. They may make a bet that identifies their hand, but they are usually smart enough not to give good odds to call.

You know this hand reminds me of a hand Gigabet played in the STEP 5 higher, where the winner was paid $100,000. Blinds were 50/100 Gigabet raised to 3x BBs, the guy after him raised (or pushed can't remember), and another guy moved allin before it got back to him. Gigabet thought for a little while, and called with his queens (and won). My point is, it's very very difficult to fold the 3rd best hand in a SNG format. In fact, I think it's arguable that it's negative EV to do so (unless you do actually know your opponents cards).

Anyway, if someone wants to take the time, I think it would be interesting to see that hand. But I'm not going to go look for it. BTW, this is the only HH Gigabet has ever posted.

One more thing. To the guy who asked about the small reraise. I was in a $33 where a guy did this to me once ...with a pair of 5s.

    himself fucker.
    I agree with the fold.

I think a smaller raise from a tighter opponent gives him a very well defined hand range of big pairs. BB's push makes it easier unless BB is a total donkey.

    Here's Gigabet's hand history:

I didn't see the QQ hand you're talking about, but there are a couple of hands in there that are just incredible to me.

It must have been played in the other STEP 5 higher he played. Gigabet is like superhero. I think he won every single STEP 5 higher there was when it was the $100k payout.

Anyhow, I watched both of them live. It was better than a movie. My point is that in later stages of SNGs, I think it's a mistake to fold the third best overall hand. I would think that if it's right to play that way for $100,000, it's gotta be right to play that way for $50.
