Michael1123 - how've you been doing in MTTs recently?

Keep doing well. (And thanks for all the feedback you've been giving me, even if is mostly harsh criticism of my play :P I'm still learning. (Same for everyone else here, too))

All right. The week I won the two big ones I had off of work, so I had a lot more time to play more of them, and my game was staying more sharp. Makes me wonder why I bother working, especially considering the measly pay I get ...

Anyway, I'm only getting in about one good MTT a day now during the week, if I'm lucky. I've gotten close to big wins ($4k+) multiple times, but have fallen a bit short (in the money or final tables, but not finishing 4th or higher). Still breaking even with my money finishes though. Last night I should've won a lot in that $100 rebuy I was in, but I fucked up a monster chip lead. I'll post the key hands from that hand history tonight, even though I'd rather forget it as it still pisses me off that I gave my lead up so easily.

(And I think this thread would be more suited for tales of poker, community, or the Inner Circle)

Post them in Inner Circle mike!! I'm still developing my MTT game and would greatly appreciate some of your critiques on your own mistakes.

I'd agree with that. As the tall stack you feel torn between flexing your muscle and bullying others around or playing passively and protecting your lead. The only thing that feels worse than watching a tall stack turn into an average one slowly over time by playing too weak/tight is giving a tall stack away to somebody else in one or two horrid bluffs/overplayed hands gone bad.

Really? I love playing as the big stack, and it comes pretty naturally to me. I was cleaning up but then made one really bad call (even though my read was correct), and lost a lot of chips in a situation like Dr. describes.

Although I agree that really short stack (less than ten times the BB) play is cake. Move in or fold, its about the easiest aspect of MTT play, even though its stressful. But playing as a small / middle stack, with big blinds, is probably my weakest area. For me, its much more difficult than playing as a big stack, since you can't bully / steal much and don't get near as much respect.

I'll be posting it the hand history soon (as soon as I finish this MTT that just started a bit ago, where I roared out to have 4x the starting amount in the first 15 minutes - big stack = ).

Its definitely one that everyone can learn from, with some good poker played, and some bad mistakes made. I need to learn from this one, and have it sink in. Don't risk a lot of chips without absolute monsters against big stacks, even if they only have half your chips and you think you have them ...

AHHHH!!!! 11th out of 1036 entrants in a $10 R&A tonight. 5 and a half hours in I go out, and I get a measly $322, with first place paying $9k and 2nd paying $5k.

Was a big stack for a lot of it, but I lost a preflop all in to a rather small stack with 88 vs. their A7 (hit broadway straight), then chopped after a preflop all in with A9 against A6 (aggressive big stack) because the river made two board pairs, then went all in as one of the smallest stacks with a flush draw in a blind war, but the big blind had two pair. Flush draw missed, but hit runner runner 2 pair (!), but it made a lower two pair, and I was out.

So frustrating, not being able to close these out recently.

Im in cali now but when I get back home I have nothing to do but eat sleep and play poker.. (and do poker related things such as post here...) So the plan is that my game will improve greatly and Ill start pulling in some wins on a consistent basis. I cant wait to have no responsibility (sure Ill miss my girlfreind, but this will be good for me in the long run, having to withdrawl to take her out and stuff like that hampers my progress so much...)

Boost, is there a reason you brought this year old thread back from the dead and told michael to quit his job MONTHS after he did so?
