I would call it a bit of an overbet, but I'm not saying it's horrendous, or anything. If you pushed the flop, I'd say you played it fine.
I'm just saying that you've flopped a set in a huge pot that you built. You simply have to push here.
Given 6 limpers, I would say 100 would be a "standard" ish raise here.. I don't mind going more than that to thin the field. I just don't know if a 22xBB raise is the way to go here. Seems to me like you're narrowing the field (depending on buy in) to hands that almost have to beat you. We can be reasonably sure that preflop, there are none of those out there. I'm guessing the buyin here is low, given two callers...
but aren't we giving up some post flop equity with the overbet here, in many situations? Am I totally off base here?
I may be... it's open for discussion. I like a raise more in the 120-150 range. range.
Well, yes, its a low buy-in so that could be one of the reasons why i bet so hard. I tend to see some really strange calls from morons and dont really wanna get em involved. Not sure about the Fold equity, got read some more about it.
And yes, raising to 120-140 could be fine . But as i saw so many limpers, i thought that someone probaly had some good cards, so just wanted to eliminate the loose ones, since it was the first hand. The thing is that if i would raise it to 120, i would probaly get more value from the cards, meaning that some player might have gone allin with a pair of Q or flopped set, even flushdraw.
