    Default Repping trips on turn

I haven't actually tried this but it's something I think I'll try at a low-limit SNG later should it arise.
For example, suppose you limp in cheaply with Axd to see a flop and you catch the nut flush draw with a flop of Kd 8c 2d. The first person to act bets out representing top pair and you call him.
On the turn you miss your flush but another 8 comes on the board.
Again, your opponent bets out with top pair but you raise him to represent trip 8's. Is this a play which anyone has used effectively?

It may work, but at low buyins I would suspect the people playing aren't aware enough to get the hint that you "hit your trips."

amen. I would only try and get fancy with someone who I was fairly sure was smart enough to realise what I was doing or weak enough to be bullied off the pot if he didn't.

By low buy-ins, I'm assuming $20 and under for SnGs?!

This seems like one of those situation that stants to lose you alot more in the long run then you'll make. The reraise to rep the trips will need to be substantial or TPTK will call assuming a bluff (and actually be right this time). If you use the move early then the amout of chips gained will probably be trivial and later on if it doesen't work you'll probably be crippled. This could definately be useful late in a SnG agains a tight opponent when you need to make a move. I'm much happier, lets use Axd again. and the board is Kd xc 4d. now on the turn if you hit your trips, you're going to make a fortue at a low buy in as TPTK is propably thinking you're making a move on him.

The only time I represent trips is by a checkraise on the flop. I usually do this when I get a cheap flop from the blinds and it comes something like Q-6-6. I check, someone with a queen will bet a fair amount then I come over the top with a raise about 3x their raise. Of course dont try this vs fish, but if you have a solid opponet you can even get them to lay down KQ or maybe even AQ. If he calls you have a tough decision whether to bluff knowing he dosnt have trips now, but not knowing if he can lay down TP.

If I limped from the sb/bb I'll rep any paired rags and usually take it down. But outside of the blinds I find it hard to rep trips and get respect.
I'll be a rootin' tootin' shootin' damn fool, protectin' my chips.

this play may work but IMO it will not work more times than it will so in the long run it will be -EV. When u do hit trips and make that play most times youll get paid off b/c people will just no buy it, so if you try to make this move especially against a fish you will be called down..

Ask yourself how often YOU fold AK when it comes K73, you bet and get called, and then you get raised on another 7 (assuming a raised pot). At the very least there needs to be a flush/str8 draw out to give you some reason to raise your 'trips'. And the guy needs to have enough left behind to fold. And as said above, he needs to know what he's doing.

It's a better move OOP where you can lead out, cheaper than the re raise. But again, you have to ask yourself if someone with trips would really lead out here. I'd be more worried about trips if I got smooth called/check called on the turn, then raised on the river.

Spots like this contribute to the implied odds on connectors, because most opps will not fold in this spot. CG people get away from TPTK sometimes, tourney almost never.
