Default Right or Wrong Push as shortstack?

Quick question....$5 MTT. My first ever money finish in a MTT. We're down to 20 with top 20 paid. I have $1500 chips, in 18th place and blinds at 200/400, due to increase in 2 mins. Folded around to me two from button. I have A8 suited and push. Felt it was a good apportunity to pick up the blinds. I also needed a spot to double up as next increase in money was for getting 10th. Was called by BB with $5000 chips and he had A9 unsuited. Neither improved and he outkicked me for the pot.

Should I have waited for a better spot?

Smart play, especially since it's a suited ace.

    Default lol it was sooooooooooted!

In that position its very good to push w/ A8s there, Hell, i'd be happy w/ 87o. You HAVE to go for a blind steal at that point, it might be your last shot. Any A or K looks great in that position.
