Some tourney questions
I hope it's ok to post some tournament beginner questions here. I recently started tournament play and 'm a bit confused still about the multiple ways to try and get a stack going. Some examples:
1. A 360 on stars, early on, I am UTG with TT, I raise 3bb. When the action comes back to me, 3 guys have shoved allin. Now my reasoning is, if one of em has a bigger pp, I'm shafted, but otherwise there will probably be some overcards (hopefully sharing some of their outs), maybe a smaller pp that wants to come along (it happens) or some guy shoving a random hand. So on average I should be getting a decent shot (~30% is enough) to more than tripple up. So I might aswell gamble it a bit, then either I have a nice stack to continue and go for ITM, or I'm out and I can focus on other tournaments. So I call. Good reasoning or not?
2. I'm in MP, 2 limpers in front of me, I have A9o. Normally I would fold this without much thought, but is there something to be said for limping along with the pack and hoping to hit a flop? How about if I have 76s? (always the risk of someone raising it up in the back)
3. I'm on the button with KJo. There's 4 limpers in front of me. My instinct is to raise this up to 5-6bb, but maybe this is a mistake.. just limp along?
4. I have AJo in the CO, one guy in EP has raised 4bb and a caller. My action? If I call, I probably have to let go if I don't hit the flop though.
4. Postflop minraising. Coming from ring, it is amazing to see all the minraising that goes on in tournaments. I'm getting the impression that this is never done with a draw or semi strong hand though.. can we say minraise=TP or better?
