Strategy on the bubble for average stack?
I routinely get very aggressive on the bubble, when I have an average stack, with several AIs, when we're almost ITM. Sometimes this really pays off and I get ITM with a very healthy stack. However, i find I get busted out frequently - someone with medium pp such as 99-JJ often looks me up. I've seen Soupie use this technique in the past but I'm not sure if he still advocates it. Most other people just go with 2-3BB raises to steal. For example:
Pacific $65+5 MTT 760 players, 85 left, top 80 ITM
I have ~18k, avg chips ~18k
Blinds 750/1500, everyone's tight. Steals with 2-3BB raises occasionally, ususally take the pot. 2-3 hands previously, all folded to me in CO, I went AI with TT, and took the blinds.
3 hands later, in MP I get KQ, all fold to me and I go AI.
LP calls with similar stack ~18k, he has 99
Flop Q9x, Turn x, river Q
I'm out only 5 off the money!!
Not really after comments on this hand, since however I'd played it, i probably wouldn't have gotten away from his set, unless I'd folded preflop.
What strategy do most people use when very close to the bubble with an average stack? Raise 2-3BB and fold to a reraise, if not holding a premium hand? Fold everything except AA/KK when so close to ITM? Go AI as often as possible?
