Default Vague Push/Fold SNG question @ 6.50Turbo Stars

I've been trying to review my end-game to plug any holes that I have.. and I came across a vague situation:

Why is this an +EV play (+1.2%)
    PokerStars Game #29487335410: Tournament #172621600, $6.00+$0.50 Hold'em No Limit - Level V (75/150) - 2009/06/17 19:49:12 ET
    Table '172621600 1' 9-max Seat #6 is the button
    Seat 1: Ka4ok424 (1260 in chips)
Seat 2: lbranom (1625 in chips)
Seat 3: Casajonsen (2185 in chips)
Seat 4: FreddyJames (2150 in chips)
Seat 5: Ventos (1370 in chips)
Seat 6: CCamager (1375 in chips)
Seat 7: HERO (1760 in chips)
Seat 9: Argztilttttt (1775 in chips)
    HERO: posts small blind 75
    Argztilttttt: posts big blind 150
    *** HOLE CARDS ***
    Dealt to HERO [4s Kc]
    Ka4ok424: folds
    lbranom: folds
    Casajonsen: folds
    FreddyJames: folds
    Ventos: folds
    CCamager: folds
HERO: raises 1610 to 1760 and is all-in
    Argztilttttt: calls 1610

But this one is a -EV play? (-0.1%)

Seat 4: FreddyJames (2290 in chips)
Seat 6: bostboy (975 in chips)
Seat 7: Argztilttttt (4770 in chips)
Seat 8: HERO (2275 in chips)
    Buqatti: posts small blind 75
    hippy10101: posts big blind 150

Uncalled bet (2125) returned to HERO
    HERO collected 375 from pot

What calling ranges are you using for opps?

The most obvious explanation I can come up without reviewing calling ranges is that in the first hand it's SB vs BB (so you only have one player who needs to act before you successfully steal the blinds) whilst in the second you're on the button so TWO players have to fold before your steal is successful.

As Tai said, without knowing the calling ranges you're using, it's hard to say for sure whether the difference b/t +EV and -EV is accurate.

In any case, the reasons that the second will always be less EV are:
    1. You're shoving on two people instead of one
    2. You're risking more chips to win the same amount
    3. There's someone else at the table who is becoming a short stack in hand 2 (though this is only marginally important until we are closer to the bubble)
    I run a training site...

Check out strategy videos at GrinderSchool.com, from $10 / month.

Oh I was actually just running it through SNGEGT, and I used the 10% call range for both hands. But yeah makes sense, thanks!

I've been trying to do some reading on ICM and push/fold poker a lot recently to plug holes in my game so this helps a lot.
