Default When do players get good.

I've been playing 10 dollar sit n go's (while my bankroll is transferred to party network) on poker stars. I don't have a huge sample size but i'm confident that i'm beating the 10 dollar sit n gos. I've got the bankroll (from ring games) to supposedly play $100 sit and gos, but i don't want to play there, and i also don't think i'm good enough. So at what buyin do the players get significantly better than the 10 dollar buyin sit and goes.

    himself fucker.
If you have a 3 or 4k bankroll you should definitly not be playing 10 SnGs. You're really just wasting your time.

I seem to remember reading about 15 buyin's being right for sit n gos in Davsimmons guide, even though i thought that was too few. Now that i look for it in his post (which was very usefull) i can't seem to find the reference, so maybe my mind is making up non-sensical things haha. I only have a $1600 dollar bankroll right now, so i guess i'll just keep moving up until i start losing or i reach the 30-40 buyin limit that you seem to reccomend i have.

The thing is I've always found sit n goes "to be a waste of time" in a strictly financial sense, because i've always done much better by the hour in ring games. The only reason i'm playing all these damn things is cause i'm waiting for the majority of my bankroll to be moved to party skins.

No I think your right bmx, 15x Buyins is supposedly the correct amount. I think RIlla is just stating that if you did have 3-4k you have more than enough to be playing the 100s (if your comfortable of course).

    *edit
in the BR management thread rilla states 15+ for SNGs

Alright, but back to my main question. Is there a significant difference in skill between say a 10 dollar sng and a 50 dollar sng?

Yes, there is. In my experience $10/$20 seem the same. $30/$50 are about the same, and $100 is in a class of it's own along with the $5 which are almost a craps shoot.

PLayed a $20 and there was no real difference between it and the $10 ones. I came third, and once i can access all of my bankroll i'll move up and give $30 a try.

That is extremely steep, I would agree to play the higher levels you should reserve more buy-ins than at the lower levels. The 15x buy-in "rule" was derived from the beginning player needing some sort of goal or guidleline to follow as they learn the game. It allows them to play games that are worth thier time and will yield a reasonable ROI. 15 buyins is a reasonable bankroll to have if you are playing at the the $5-$30 level. At the $50 level you should probably reserve 20 buy-ins and at the $100 level 30 buy-ins would be the minimum I would feel comfortable with.

The $20's are only slightly better, you will normally see a bit more aggression at $20. Play a few $20's, if you are killing $10, you will be more than fine.

I've been CREAMING the $10 turbo SnGs at Pacific (win % is just under 50%) so I tried some normal $20 games and did okay. I think a good part of my edge though has been that the people in the turbos at Pacific just want a quick tournament, and have no freaking clue how to play a small to medium stack with large blind raises, so I may stick at the $10s for a bit yet, at least until my bankroll's up to where I *should* be playing $10+1s.

a 2nd a 8th and a 3rd now, i like the 30 dollars better, because players are actually smart enough to lay stuff down when they are beat, or more importantly that my bet represents that they are beat . Guess i'll give 50 dollar ones a try, although i think that will probably just be to test the waters and i'll stay at $30 dollar sit n goes for a while.
