3rd time at 50NL - comments?

OK ... third attempt at 50NL. Been at the table for just about 2 orbits.

Hand 1 - villain is 54 / 12 / 1.48 with 120 hands ... And yes I know ... fold preflop but they were sooted.

hand 1 - i prob put shorty in too.
hand 2 - hard to get away from it since you're short and his flop raise is a bit more than a min-raise to you.

Hand 1). pf/f/t not too bad. I'm not sure what worse hand call you on the river though. I dont like the push. Even AsTs would have a hard time calling your push. However you might be able to induce a bluff from a worse hand. I like a check on the river.

Hand 2) Your shortstack does the thinking for you. Gotta call.

When I tried 50NL, I went in with $35 instead of $50. Mostly for defensive reasons, but also because Sklansky talks about it in his latest book (when moving up stakes). At 25NL, it's full stack full time.

I havent read the whole book, does he specifically say 70bb is the way to go when moving up?? Or did you just randomly pick it?

Check out pages 199-203 where he talks of the advantages of going in short stacked. Specifically on page 203, he sees short stacking as positive when moving up stakes. As for the amount, I just pulled that outta my ass.

Haven't read the book (yet), but I believe he's talking about when moving up to stakes where people are aggressive/tough enough to raise a much wider range preflop than at these levels. With a short stack villain won't be able to push you off hands postflop because you commit yourself preflop, so his advantage in being able to play any two diminishes significantly.

I wish I could pull 70BBs out of my ass too :D

Not hard to do if you have enough alcohol in your system. Using a hunting dog to find your ass at this point helps too.

I agree. I think more just puts you in no mans land. 40bb might even be better.

I was thinking though, maybe pick something random so you look like a dumbass playing with your last 22.45 or something. Then, when you re-raise pre-flop, the big stacks will probably put you all in with out having a whole lot.
