Default what have I gotten myself into

PP 100NL no reads, haven't been at the table long
    I have $100, villain covers.
I have AJo in mid position....there is one poster, blinds, and a utg limp in the pot.....looks like I'm gonna have to try to steal this one. I raise to 5. BB calls. The rest fold. $13 in the pot.
flop is J66 rainbow. He leads for 13. I call. Turn is a K, 38 in the pot. He leads for 40, I put the rest in...
My bankroll is the amount of money I would spend or lose before I got a job. It is calculated by adding my net worth to whatever I can borrow.

Raise the flop, top pair Jack isn't god, so don't play it slow. You need to find out if he has a worthful hand, or if it was a continuation bet.

This is why you get screwed on the turn. He could easily have a K, i would fold turn i think

With his pot sized lead-out and then 40 on the turn I'm putting him on KJ. He could be holding JJ as well but either way I think you're beat. Can't see something stupid like A6, but he could have AJ too. Think I'm folding here...

Well, no better hands will fold (maybe QQ but thats unlikely) so what hands are you extracting value from? QJ/J10 maybe but without a read I don't like it. If you smell a bluff why not call see if he continues?

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Without any kind of read I hate this play though. Pushing with a very marginal hand into serious strength without any reads is a recipe for disaster IMO. Hope it worked out for you though.

Ok, I'll explain already. Leading out on that type of flop for the full pot against a serious preflop raise is very nonstandard. Thus, I thought about this play for a while. It's very unlikely he called this raise from the BB with a 6 in his hand. Also, he certainly wouldnt do this with JJ. Calling this raise from the BB with KJ or Jx is also quite unlikely. I think the most likely hands are TT-77 trying to find out if I've got an overpair since a J isnt likely to help my hand and two sixes certainly aren't either. He also may have AJ or QQ. If he's doing something extremely tricky with a big pair I'll pay it off but i doubt it. Thus, I think I'm ahead of his range here and if I raise I'll kill the action. Thus, I tank for about 15 sec then call trying to represent a whiffed AK that doesn't know what to do.

On the turn he bets 40 again into a 38$ pot. Any possible hand that has me killed (6, JJ, AA-KK) is value betting at this point, not betting a huge amount into this pot. Thus, I actually sense desperation here and notice that everything in the hand range I put him on would probably fold if I pushed, even getting such good odds. This is key to why I push instead of just call. I figure AJs to be even more likely than I did previously, and I don't want to just split this pot; I want the whole thing. So I push.

He folded after about five seconds of thought.

Ah. True. Most of the time it gets checked to the raiser...Still, you're putting a awful lot of faith in your read. Not sure I would have had the cahones to take the line you did.

Very interesting hand. Glad you posted it.
