Did I lose this hand due to flop play?

Or should I be happy that he made the turn call without odds and just get ready toi stack him next time I get the chance?

Flop worried me and I probably should have re-raised him on the flop with my 2 pair to see where I was at...if he came back at me I could let it go but think that being passive here cost me. Frustrating as hell too since it wiped out the profit I had managed to build up on other tables in the last hour.

Sorry, just ranting there for a sec since seems I either lose big pots or win small ones lately and can't work out why...anyway, back to this hand, I'm going to guess most will say re-raise flop but who knows, maybe I was right.

I probably would have raised the flop because there are so many draws there but I dont mind how you played it.

Its about winning money not pots. You got him to put in plenty when you were ahead and you didnt put a cent in when he caught up. You cant do much more than that.

1) playing too many marginal hands out of position

Yeah, get the points there Lukie though don't think 1) is too much of an issue as vo$ip for last 6k hands has been around 17%. It's very rare for me to play a hand like this but it's still noted.

Point 2 however is probably more of a concern as this is the second time I have posted a hand where it has been the same hand, same result and same conclusion...I need to learn and remember.

Where I was talking about size f pots, it's more along the lines of getting the blinds with AA and losing $10 with AQs from the button. Just got hit hard with variance last week, in entire week of play (only bout 700 hands though) I didn't get AA, KK, QQ, JJ or TT starting once and so was getting my tightness picked on when I was beat. It's gotten better last few days and getting paid off with some big hands.

Having said that though, it was possibly me playing more marginal hands as you have said. PO tells me though that my biggest losers for last 6k hands are AJ, AJs, AQ, AK, AQs, K9 from worst hand towards better so I'm not sure since I don;t think many of those would be considered marginal.

I think it's more that I don't have an understanding of controling the pot yet, and that's causing it. Eg I have AJs in button with a limp or two ahead so I bet $1 and get a call or two. Flop comes Axx with a $3.50 pot so I lead out with $3 bet and get call, get to river and see AQ against me...that sort of thing is where I need to learn. Think I am though, now just toss AJ and AJs unless I am in unraised BB and hit more than just TP

You don't want to always pitch AJ type hands b/c you'd be throwing away a lot of value in certain spots. In your example for instance, where there are a couple weak limpers and it's your button. Sure you want a super-premium hand like KK/AA in these spots, but you just have to work with what you've got. Pot it and if you hit top pair you are generally way ahead of their range. You can also often take down the pot unimproved.

You said you havn't seen TT+ in the last 700 hands, well I'm sure the odds of that happening are quite terrible, but you also have to understand that it's such a tiny sample size. You go through cold runs of cards and hot runs of cards, and that goes much deeper then your original starting hand.
