    Default Texas v tOSU

    1) Texas is going to win, fine
    2) 2 obvious non-calls on pass interferance against Tx in the first half
    3) exact same defense, except it gets called against tOSU in the 2nd half
    4) a couple plays later McCoy struts into the endzone like a "badass". I yell "Fuck you don't strut I will rape your family" in the bar. My "friends" look appalled. Three random people walk up and cheers me saying "that's what I was thinking, but scared to say"
    5) I have to leave the bar because the people I'm with are fucking gossiping and not even watching the game. I'll give one dude a flyer because he was hitting on a super fly chick.
    6) I can't find the link, but over the last 3 years tOSU is dead last in opponents penalties against. Clearly our opponents do nothing wrong.

Finally a reluctant shoutout to Florida because Jerry owns my soul.

And whatever on that pass interferance call, but fuck Texas for the "roughing the passer" call that also led to their first TD.

    Fuck Texas.

What's up with the 2pt conv. call? As though Pryor was not amazingly athletic, but let's go ahead and make him a pocket passer for that play...

Texas was awful in this game. They have no argument for No. 1 now. Barely winning a game you were the clear favorite in does not prove you are great, it proves you can just squeak by.

the pass interference call that led to the UT touchdown was the only blatant call i didn't like by the refs. Maybe the Chekwa pass interference that was pretty weak, also maybe the double pass interference(wtf is that even?) against Terrell Pryor was questionable.

That said, Terrell Pryor cost OSU that game, plain and simple. Yeah he ran the ball for alot of yards, but there were 3 instances in the first half where he ran out of bounds too early, one where he could have picked up another 5-10 yards untouched. Atleast on that on he had the first down because there were atleast 2 times he just stepped out a yard or 2 short of the first down so he didnt have to take a hit. fuck that.

2nd of all, Todd Beckman should have been in the game much more because every pass Pryor threw looked like a 7th grade girl throwing with her off hand. so terrible, like he wasn't even giving the WR's a chance to catch most balls because the ball wasn't even close to getting to them.

Overall, it was a pretty good game, although dissapointing and probably will lead to an ulcer for me in the near future.

I think this is just the universe trying to even the score with OSU for the phantom interference call against Miami that cost them the National Championship a few years back. Karma is a bitch.

That's how these players motivate themselves for "the game of their life"

I'm just happy it was a good game, so far 4 BCS games, have to rank them (from best to worst)

    1. Utah/Bama
    2. TU/OSU
    3. USC/PSU
    4. I forget who played in this one

    ha va tech disaments

I was meh on using Beckman in general but hated him in the red zone, running QB in the red zone = win. If he was going to play he should have gotten more time during the season.

Please don't blame the refs because now you sound like Miami fans. We kicked two field goals in the first half when we should have had 2-3 TDs and had two killer 3 and outs with great field position in the third quarter, if they execute there it probably isn't a close game even. We were not going to win 12-6. Texas can pretend if they want but either they did not show up or the Big 12 should be the Big Ten South.

I think it will be a good experience for TP, probably better than if they had won, but feel sad for the seniors.

Right. This video makes excuses to justify the call (Since when is Keith Jackson's opinion on the play important?). Of course Miami had other chances, but it doesn't make the call correct. Both players are trying to get position, including Gamble's swim push to clear space, which is interference almost 100% of the time. If there was interference, it was mutual. In a game of that magnitude, you let the players play.

If it was one call I wouldn't have said anything about the refereeing. I feel like 5 drives were affected by questionable officiating, 4 in favor of Texas, and 1 in favor of tOSU.

I completely agree that tOSU could have won anyway, which is even more infuriating. With slightly better play and officiating this is a 14+ pt win for tOSU.

you cannot say "with slightly better play" b/c Texas played horribly for like 11/16ths of the game, only showing up in the 3rd quarter and the final drive.

well as long as I took it from "phantom call" to your opinion that you let the players play, I've done what I wanted to do here.

And since when does 1 ticky tack call "taint" a national championship? I could watch any football game and pick out a dozen bad calls without much effort.

I can live with the officiating.

What really bothers me is that the OSU defense just seemed completely unprepared both from a game plan standpoint and conditioning standpoint when Texas was no-huddling in the second half.

It really sucks because this could have been a big game for OSU (and the Big Ten) to really redeem itself against a national-champion caliber team. OSU was clearly better on both sides of the ball in the running game; UT on both sides of the ball in the passing game.

    And now I'm just rambling.

I think TU mis-used their time outs big time at the end
  29. #29
It's OK because we get to play USC next year again and if they win that game they will be double digit favorites vs ever other team in the big ten I think. pretty much all the other 'good' teams are losing key people. If they can't beat USC at home it doesn't matter what people think of the big ten since we'll all be (justifiably) barred from the title game for 2-4 years

i agree, but even worse than this was OSU's clock management on that last drive. With only needing a field goal to win the game, they didn't run near enough clock. There were 2 runs that stood out where we got a first down and instead of sliding in bounds to keep the clock running with <3 min to go, they ran out of bounds which inevitably game UT the time it needed for that last drive. The clock could have easily been around 40sec when UT started their drive.

i'm still so frustrated after 24 hours.

def TP has to get a lot better in the off season or it's more of the same.

bode I agree, it is way past time when teams just cared about scoring with < 6 minutes left, running the clock is just as important since all 2 minute defenses seem to be awful

but let's not forget they were a half a yard away

I think people really underestimate how big of a disadvantage the big ten is in bowl games due to how far they have to travel to play de facto road games, and the amount of time they have off because their season inexplicably ends so early.

OSU has been scheduling some tough out of conference games early in the year recently. I think this is smart. It gives the team a lot more credibility if they run the table. Of course they got stomped this year at USC, but we'll see what happens next year. I'm not saying OSU will win, but I think they have a pretty good shot at it.

In '05 they lost to Texas in Columbus 22-25, then in '06 won in Austin 24-7.

I would love to see a home and home with LSU.

Realizing that OU has lost so many BCS games makes it even more laughable that they got in. I hadn't realize Stoops record was that bad.

Also, I was going to bitch about Murray being out but it only hurt them once when they were on the goal line and Stoops' dumbass decided to run it like 6 straight times with the same under-sized back.

Awful play-calling by him, a few gems I liked:

-Rolled Bradford out of the pocket where he's not comfortable twice, got sacked both times
-Continued to run the ball with great success yet never ran play-action
-Aforementioned 4 straight runs inside the four with the Heisman award winner at QB and arguably the nation's best TE (who caught both TD passes)

Bradford also made two bad decisions (not the picks) although on the first pick the throw wasn't even in the end zone with no time left in the half. The last throw of the game as well, wasn't even to the sticks. I guess both can be blamed on the WRs a bit too but goddamn son know the situation.

Stoops must learn how to coach in these big games. OU won the first half in every way but the score and then they couldn't keep up in the second.

They ran play action on the second interception he "threw." I think the biggest mistake in the second half was that they pretty much abandoned the I-formation running game that was destroying Florida in the 2nd qtr. They rushed and panicked as though 3 points was an insurmountable lead. OU was the better team in so many ways and Bob Stoops/Kevin Wilson gave the game away.

yea play-action and he hit his receiver in the hands for a 30 yard gain only to have the UF DB want it more.

The classic sign of being out-coached.

Yup. The 2nd half was pretty much all Florida wanting it more.

They were outcoached big-time. Boy does it suck having to go back to school after they lost again.

I agree.. I can't blame them whatsoever. My ideal solution would be a playoff at the end of the college football season with home field advantage determined by something reasonable, such as rank or record. This wouldn't completely eliminate controversy, but it would be a gigantic step forward from the current system.

Yeah, the Big Ten universities are shooting themselves in the foot by doing this. Usually Ohio State schedules out of conference games something like this-- 2 cupcake games, 1 big out of conference game (e.g. Texas, Washington, USC), then the Big Ten schedule, always capped with Michigan in the final week. I'd like to see them move one of the cupcake games to two weeks after the Michigan game. Of course, this means the probability of that actually happening is about 0.
