I once lost like 200BB's in a day at limit, but that was tilt-monkeying half my roll off like 3 years ago at higher stakes.

I don't really pay attention, but I think it's like 6 or 7 buy ins lost in one day. (I only play 4 tables)

10 for me too, then I quit. I really should make a smaller stop/loss.

For CASH games, if you're following good bankroll management of not allowing yourself to lose more than 5% in any one day and playing at a bankroll of at least 30 buy-ins and no more than 60 buy-ins, after crunching the numbers, you should never lose more than 1.5 to 3 buy-ins per day. Obviously you can lose more buy-ins if you either don't follow those rules or play at stakes with a bankroll of more than 60. For most stakes, though, when you reach 60 buy-ins, you're rolled and ready for the next stake.

The most I lost was 4 in a very soft home game. It's soft in the traditional since of an easy game and also reflected in my results - Total ROI 175.21% and ITM 85.71% (24 of 28). But, even in the easiest of games, sometimes you cash out red.

Btw, I say "three fitty" probably at least once a week in real life situations

I've never really agreed with the "don't risk 5% of your roll in a day" theory. I mean I understand the concept behind it and having 20 buyins, but if I have 30 buyins for 200nl, then 5% of my roll is $300.. I'm certainly going to play more than one table, and I'm not going to quit if I'm playing good poker just because I lose 1.5 buyins. If your playing well then fuck taking a day break just because your running bad.

That's too conservative. The general rule of thumb is don't risk more than 5% of your roll at one time, ie. in one hand or tournament.

If your stop-loss was 5% in any one day, that's only 1.5 buy-ins for a 25NL player with $750 in his roll. That's nothing.

I sorta lost 7 buy ins last night.

2 to normal play, 5 to being a mentally retarded angry tiltmonkey. That had never happened ot me before.

    Definitely not proud of that.
The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes

Obviously anyone can tweak the rules as they see fit, but for me, I think 5% of your entire bankroll is pretty significant in general, but especially in the context of one day. I don't think it's a good idea to allow yourself the freedom to lose significant chunks of it. If you're going to go broke, it should happen gradually, just like it was built up. I think it's acceptable to put up to 10% of your roll in play @ one time through multi-tabling, but to actually lose an amount should be no more than 5%. Theoretically, yes, it doesn't really matter how much you lose in one day or ever as long as you're making good decisions and not tilting, but how many posts do we read about people not quitting when they should have? With bankroll decisions, if making an error, always do so to the side of caution.
