need some advice on restarting my BR

I think most of you know where I come from, but here's a short recap: I started with a minimum deposit, ran it up to 35k and ended my poker career last fall after a 5k downswing that I couldn't recover from and didn't have much ambition to try and run it up again.

The couple of times I've been playing since then I was playing with whatever I had left in unclaimed fpp's and unexpected rakeback payments. Usually 50nl heads-up but ended up busting my 2-3 BI roll shortly.
I certainly feel like I can crush that stake and I don't tilt or spew much but it just feels wrong playing with no money in my account. I've had offers for 100nl stakes but I can't put much volume in and I'm not in love with the idea anyway.
I have either the option of depositing a small amount again and grind it out in micro hu sng's - prolly the best option. Or I re-deposit 1k which tbh feels kind of degenerate to me, even given my history.

I know a bunch of you have been in a similar situation, that's why I'm even posting this. Whatever it's going to be: I need a plan that I can stick to. Game wise I want to stick to HU as much as possible.

if depositing 1000$ feels a bit degen then its probably a bad idea.. you don't want to be feeling like that and suffer a stretch of run bad for the first however long, that could really burn your self confidence at the table.

if your game is solid you'll move up quickly on a small deposit anyway. If you can't put in volume to move up you can redeposit. After a break from the game, winning at lower stakes will be good for your psyche and put you in a much better position to take shots at higher levels. You don't have to hang around in micros for long at all, just enough to get comfortable with playing again.

edit: based on your post I assume you pulled 30K out? did you spend it all? if you put in 1K and burnt it your still up 29K overall. It would be frustrating but its really not bad at all when looking at the whole picture.

You're right, this is mostly about the psychology of it. I have always regarded my poker roll separate from my real life roll and money was only flowing in one direction. Having it go the other way just feels wrong.
If I deposit 1k and by some minor miracle were to go bust it's likely that I would not come back, simply because it feels too much like the road to busto town.

I play cash and had a roll for 100nl years ago. I largely feel the same way, my current BR system comprises of 250 deposit for 10nl which is about as much of my own hard earned cash I can deposit without feeling sick. Idea is grind 10 stacks, take shot at 25nl, if I burn the 100$ I move down and repeat.

Perhaps you could use a similar idea applied to hu sngs. It means your going to move up fairly quickly without ever busting out. This way you don't risk too much of your own cash and you don't spend 100k hands in micros unless you suffer solid run bad.

That sounds like a good idea. I have never played pkr cos I was 12 tablz FR feeesh, but it should be perfect for hu. Wouldn't even mind if hud doesn't work. And no PTR is a huge plus in the long run.

BTW congrats on 4444 posts! You might as well retire now. This shit isn't going to happen again until 55555.

I've played some lowstakes HU sng's on stars - only sat on tables with players already sitting, so I basically played all the regs, some with insane ROI's, but objectively abysmally bad players. I'm supremely confident I could beat most of them without looking at my holecards, honest to god.
I'm still going to go with pkr cos I never played it, so I'm curious. Plus I get 40% RB till october and 30% after that, plus deposit bonus etc.

I'll start a new operation once I can think of a good SN for pkr. :P
