AK again - 3 handed (PS $5.50)

Riverstars had been playing semi-tight (~25-30% VPIP) at early levels but had opened up to ~50% at 75/150 blinds. Fatass had been loose (45% VPIP) and passive.

Is this unnecessary? Would a standard 3x BB raise and a push on the flop if called be better?

I just pop it to 450-600 there and look to get my chips in on any favourable flop.

Your M is high enough that you can afford to play AK without pushing pre-flop. Put in a standard raise and see what happens on the flop.

I use them all the time. It can make the difference between a call and a push based on how tight the player is.

limp in 3-way signifies a very weak (76s/22) HU hand or a strong hand that demands action (AQ+/99+). It can even be real trash like Q7s.

Only reason to push here is to get a call from AX. AX is a really weird hand to limp, but some people play wierd. Especially at $5.50.

I actually think you should min/raise here, for 3 reasons:
1) You don't want him to fold (he's not going to fold anything that is ahead of you)
2) If he wants to limp-re-raise, you can escape for the cheapest (although calling if the guys a donk is fine too)

You cannot complete because of the third player. If he's really loose in the BB, I guess you have to bump it to 3x.

Thanks for the comments guys. This was the whole hand, do you think I would have had more fold equity if I had made it 600 to go and pushed the flop?

Sure, I use the PT stats more to to confirm my reads of players early on. When it gets shorthanded/bubble time I mostly just go with my reads and ignore the numbers. Gets a bit screwed up when you play somebody more than once and they switch gears during the tourney but at the $5.50s that doesn't happen too often.

You can always have PAHUD filter the stats based on how many players are left. So if somebody changes gears at the bubble then have PAHUD show their bubble stats, etc. Im not exactly how it works for PAHUD/PT as I use pokeroffice, but I know it can be done, so it can account for "changing gears" in play
