    Default Operation: September pwnage

So I've had to cash out a significant amount of my roll to pay for school. It didn't help that also im on a huge downswing. So I have a few goals for september.
What I want to do is play 1/2 HU and see how well I can do for 30k hands. I want to use these 30k hands, in which i hopefully run over 10ptbb/100, to advertise myself as a low stakes HU coach. It's a lofty goal but my sense is my long term winrate at 1/2 HU is actually around that.
As a sub operation, I've had super tilt issues recently. I'm going to attempt to not tilt whatsoever or as little as possible. Here's the plan.
-Commit to making the best decision on every hand and realize thats all I have control over.
    - play a maximum of 3 tables (unless i am playing one opponent on 3 different tables, if so i can add one more)
    - Implement a one and a half buy in stop loss (I'll give myself a chance to not tilt if i lose a BI.

I'm expecting this to take around 3 weeks so wish me luck!

    Today: 1.5k hands, +~800, 13.25ptBB/100.

Felt like I played at the top of my game today, some questionable hands but not too many tough decisions.

This hand i knew the only 2 opp has in his range is 22 so i decided to see if i could take him off a Q and a bad kicker on the turn, when he calls im pretty afraid he has the flush, but he also may have like Qx9h or something like that, as i expect him to repop my raise with a low flush a significant amount. The river is absolutely perfect because now i can get him off a flush hopefully. This guy was pretty tight. What do you guys think?

Here opp was loose aggro donkey. Mostly he was not a floater and folded without a pair or draw on the flop. Although, he called about 75% of my threebets, opened probably 40% of his hands on the BU, and seemed fond of low sc's. because of this possible repop or two barrel?

    Another successful day. 2 hours, +1,256, 19.03ptBB/100.

    Total: $2,051, 16.28ptBB/100

I really liked today because i was facing a pretty big fish reg, and it was really an uphill battle for about 45 minutes, but i hung in there and eventually took about 4 BI's off him.

Here was a questionable hand versus him. He's been really spewtard aggro, has continued about 75% of flops in threebet pots, as well as calling about 90% of my threebets, opening probably 45% from the BU.
I don't doubt he bets a worse K here but it's kind of irrelavent since we split if he does. He didn't raise fd's on the flops but perfectly capable of floating. He's also made this river bet where i appear to be committed 100% of the time (its happened 3 times). Do i just cry fold? Play it differently?

Then a bunch of all ins against short stacks where i was ahead and lost.
I'm a little upset I didn't get to play for longer to see if I could control it If I tilted.

hand 2 the river is close to just a call, but it's pretty marginal. I'd either c/r the flop or lead the turn though...

What kind of bankroll are you starting this HU operation with?

way more than enough but considering what i percieve to be my true winrate I'd think maybe 15 BI's may be enough. For a small winrate though like 40 BI's are necessary.

i suck at holdem, and I doubly suck at HU holdem...

But amidst the tons and tons of failed or stalled operations it's great to see someone actually make a plan to pwn the games, and *IMPORTANTLY* execute the fucking plan.

ugh today -700 in about 2k hands.

I felt like i should've stopped this session before i started, i had a blistering headache and still do through the entire thing. I tilted off one buy in in the end and just immediately quit. What really annoys me is i forgot my one buy in stop loss!!! I'm mad at myself right now but happy with all my physical state how i hung in there until this hand where i immediately quit.

    ugh so bad.

I felt like i played well the rest of it, I feel like i just ran really cold. One thing that kind of bothered me is i lost most of my money to two guys who minraised a lot pre. I'm a little confused about how i actually beat this strategy, although of course the holes in the rest of their games make me an easy winner. I think im just going to avoid them for now. Another thing im mad about is i really should've left one table against a guy who was actually a pretty solid player and in general bad on the tight side.

Anyways my ptBB/100 is down to 6, but i should easily be able to get it back up.

So today i tilted after one hand. Down about 600. It was incredible, I couldn't stop playing after i lost a BI. I couldn't believe it. I literally couldn't stop. But I realized now that one BI stop loss rules because im in school and i can just stop and do something else and not go through ridiculous annoying days, AND not risk any tilt.
This was the hand that tilted me, it was such a tough decision. Halvsame recently said a great player once posted that you should sometimes just make the decision that will not tilt you in marginal situations. Here it's just so close, he could be bluffing, maybe an idiot with two pair, who knows, i know he doesnt have the flush and he may have backdoored the higer straight. TBH probably a fold.

LOL nvm about not updating this for awhile. Somehow this day has become the best day ever at 1/2 HU. I took about 10 buy ins off of Angel_FH. Really, the guy is not a bad player, in fact, I think he's one of the better 1/2 HU reg, the problem is is he just has one huge leak in his game that he shouldn't even have to worry about at these stakes, but when your facing a good HU player he just gets Eaten alive. I have a lot of fun hands to show you! But first I'll update.

About 8k hands, $3,200 in total winnings, 9.92ptBB/100 (DAMN so close)

This guy was playing aggro, solid. May have been tilting. TBH this was just one of those times I had no idea what he could have so I call type deals. A lot of the times when you see small raises followed up by large bets, they're set up a bluff type plays. The reason I didn't raise the turn is because the only thing i beat is a bluff.

This was a funny hand. At this point he really thinks I'm a station so this hand kind of contradicts everything. He's just tilting in general and is so aggro no way I can fold turn. Preflop is just w/e fourbet steal. The river IMO is his worst card in the deck not because it gives me an Ace because it makes his hand range so obvious. Again he instantly shoves which makes me almost positive he's bluffing yet again. If the A doesnt come do i call a river bet? Really i dont because his preflop range is pretty tight, but im dont really think he follows through if an overcard doesnt come anyways.

This hand involves the huge leak i was talking about. Again his shove is close to instant which is just so bluffy considering the card (btw the leak isn't insta shoving is always a bluff, im not going to reveal it here because it'll take him awhile to figure it out and if he reads this post with the leak in it it'll make him instantly better)

I'd say btw that I'm running above average expectation. Before this session though it was definetely a little below. Obviously if i dont tilt im way over 10ptBB/100 so me running above expectation still means my true winrate could be 10ptBB/100 without tilt.

Wow I did it! I implemented my one buy in stop loss successfully.... well sort of but it's a start.

So I started this session down very close to one buy in, probably a little over, but i didn't stop because i won an $100 pot to put me above right as i thought maybe its quit time. So I keep going and then bam im hovering to one buy in loss again with more bad beats! wtf! I still don't quit as I'm still just around the one buy in. But then all of a sudden I just close my tables and say "w/e its one buy in im done." Very proud of myself.

So in the end 426 hands, down $258

    Here are the annoying coolers.

The reason my raise size was so little is because i didn't think he'd fold a 7 or 4 to it.

Then w/e, i have other things to do I'll sesh later. I don't want to risk playing horribly and spewing off a buy in or 2. Note huge coolers are normally the shit that tilts me.

I started another sesh recently and just didn't feel like i was playing my best so i quit. up 100 though.

So far total today is -110, 2k hands.

My game selection wasnt very good, I'm going to focus on this more. I got bluffed out of a pot that I really could do nothing about, and variance really wasnt on my side this session. I felt hazy throughout it but i feel like nevertheless i played a solid B game.

LOL here was the bluff. This guy is a really big nit who makes an occasional bluff. I really should've quit this guy, nits are very hard to beat if your not on your A game because you have to use timely aggression very well. I mean, here, he could be bluffing yes, but the problem is what? A fd? A lot of the times you have the opp make a bigger raise here than betting hard on the river. A weak made hand turned into a bluff? Again, A high is the only possible thing and the only A high i'd put him on is AK, he's not turning a jack into a bluff. This really really badly looks like T9, 88, and QJ (greatest to least probability) so what am I to do?

It's just so hard to play against guys who fold everything pre and are willing to bluff. I recommend versus anyone prone to tilt to practice that strategy.

i think you still have to call. In fact i'd just 3-bet shove the turn.

This is the problem. Everytime this guy has flopped trips he's raised the flop so far that ive seen.

so somehow i ended up +400 for the day!

However im now like 7.5ptBB/100 for the challenge, I need some good variance quick! 19k hands more to go.

    Today, 930 hands, $1,263, 33.97 ptBB/100

I felt like I played pretty good today, one hand I really enjoyed because I felt like I really got into my opponents head.

Opp is mythrilfox. I have a pretty good amount of respect for him from his posts on 2p2 and when I use to play with him at 200nl. Pretty taggy player. HU he's been really tight pre, threebeting a fair amount. I've been really aggro in this match. Some will probably say "lolz results oriented." and you will be somewhat right. But note I only need to be right here about 28% of the time for it to be good. Yes I think he's relatively balanced here. This is my reasoning.

First calling the flop is pretty standard. Turn is a different story. I'd expect him to stack a donk me if he had an overpair, i mean at least some of the time, but he doesn't. So I feel like at least 1/3rd of the time im good and he'll just give up the river. If an overcard comes I'm probably just going to have to give up.
River I'm planning to c/f. But then his bet on the river makes me really question whether I should. Now he took enough time to make this sort of thinking bluff. strike one. But wtf is with the bet sizing? It's really thought out... so what does he want me to think? Well I'm thinking my hand looks like a low pair or a 9, and not even a 9 that much, so my range is weak. At this point I realize its pretty clear he wants me to fold, so I look him up and I was right.

This was a really questionable decision i think im probably better off folding. My logic is i think he may have been tilting and that this is AK like 80% of the time at least considering he shoved ultra instant (I saw him call a threebet with AA).

Seems like an easy call if you really think he has AK 80% of the time (which would be the case if he calls with his big pairs half the time but always shoves AK), but these percentages are hard to estimate.

Update: So i played like 10 hands and won a buy in so now im 10.03ptBB/100. Right on track.

Anyways, I'm thinking of seeing if I can make over 150 BI's this month. It wouldn't be an all time record for poker players ever but it would be absolutely unreal.

So i said I'd post my results after 15k hands so here they are.

EDIT: OMG the internet here sucks hopefully my stats will be up soon.

Played 2.7k hands this morning, +~$900, 8.43ptBB/100. Pretty much almost all of the hands were against a guy named MrBIond, who after I made a suck out on him decided he wanted to play me on 4 tables. I agreed since I think my edge is huge if I could focus on one match on four tables (although i five tabled after i realized how nitty he was).

Anyways he pretty much was a really passive guy, who missed tons of "thin" value (i use quotes because it was normal value but to him it must've been thin, just scared to vbet i guess). Didn't threebet much or call threebets much. When we first started four tabling he was winning money off me and i was wondering if somehow i had some huge leak in my game and he was exploiting it. Later I realized this wasn't the case. His play was pretty dangerous for me too because he made some great bluffs with draws, like here.

I mean pretty much i was so close to folding, maybe i even should've. But he was vbetting so thick (lol opposite of thin) that i just couldnt imagine anything i was beating but a draw or AK/KQ that had a fd. anyways it was one of those "fuck it i call" calls. I had to counter him not calling a lot of threebets with threebetting super light, hands like Q3s, K2s, low pp's that were good against his tight calling range. Eventually i showed down j3s, and i think it made him frustrated, which made this perfect hand happen.

Here I check because obviously I think he could be floating and make a frustrated bluff. However I think of leading the river because of as i said he wasnt vbetting well at all and im afraid he'd check behind A4, AK, AJ, AT

    Sorry guys,

I'm going to stop this in the middle. I have 16k hands but I've become somewhat bored with the low stakes since my roll has been increasing so much. I am going to stop this and play 70k hands of 2/4 6 max NL. After I do that I will explain everything.

    Thanks for the support.

Keep updating this thread with your 70k hand goal, I'd like to follow your progress.

So it's been a 10k month for me. I'm feeling good about my game and hopeful I can end the year very rich.

That being said, I'm on a minor downswing, like 10 buy ins, and I'm feeling an itch again to try to rid myself of any possibility of an extended downswing and move back towards my 30k hand goal at 1/2 HU. I had a sesh yesterday where I made 1k, so currently I stand at.

    17.3k hands, +$6.3k, 9.09 ptbb/100

So right now I'm under my goal but I can definetely hit it. Should be done in about 2 weeks since I'm going to be pretty busy.

Probably not too many updates in the coming week, but be prepared.

    So update.
I've been mixing up 1/2 HU games, so now the total is 23k hands, 9.33ptBB/100.

So 7k more hands to go and need to play well!
