Default would you use a superuser account?

lets say your account on your poker site overnight turns into a superuser account and you know without a doubt that the poker site does not know about it and wont find out about it unless via the same methods of the UB AP investigation type thing. you using that shits or not?

ill chime in on my thoughts after a few others have

I would use it, and use it to grind out simply a respectable 4-5ptbb/100 winrate at 25/50 and be set for life

I would not do stupid shit like bluff-call with Ten high or make ridic thin value bets. I also would DEFINITELY not play and beat the high stakes regs. In fact, I might play and intentionally dump to the 2+2 "gods" in order to keep them off of my trail.

k, maybe I've thought about this before...

so you'd be fine with steal peoples hard earned monies?

man it'd be soooooo tempting but idk if i could do it. i'd like to think i'd be strong enough to not use it, because i think it would be wrong.

Of course not. We've all had plenty of opportunities to steal stuff when we knew we wouldn't get caught and we still didn't do it, how is this any different?

    What spenda said.

Although I'd pick one 2+2 god and call his ass out. WTF Pwning him at every turn while dumping to a few of the other gods. Claim I can just read his ass like a book... Just for giggles.

    No.

I'm too honest of a person to abuse the system like that.

I get the feeling that I will be in the minority in this one. Everybody is only looking out for #1 nowadays.
    Hey knucklehead! Bonk!

    I don't know....

I would like to think that I would report the fault in the system but I don't know if in the heat of the moment I would keep my head and my morals... I hope I would, will never be in the situation though so I will never know.

its different because you could theoretically get away with enough money for the rest of your life. i'm not too sure if i wouldn't do it, but i'd think the poker website would give you a very nice reward for being honest, keeping quiet and not destroying a ton of credibility in their site.

obviously you sell your account to somebody for $5M, retire, then they go steal $10M. Everybody wins. You didn't steal from anybody, and you're rich.

A few weeks ago I played live poker for the first time in a 5-handed game around my local university. THREE of them were discussing ways to cheat online (this was a donk .25/.50 game) and how they came up successful/unsuccessful. One got caught on UB using two accounts in several tournaments. They took his money but he brags that "they didn't get it all!" The other two talked about how they colluded with friends over AIM/phone etc. It made me absolutely sick to my stomach.

    No, I would never cheat

yes, stealing is stealing. but there is clearly more incentive to steal when you can make a ton of money. i wouldn't consider using a superuser account to make 5k but i would consider it if i thought i could make 500k.

screenshot a load of pics of the site showing you all the hole cards so its clear you have a superuser account. tell the poker site what has happened and make them pay through the arse for you to keep quiet about it all. fleece them. conscience remains intact as blackmailing a super rich company must be better than stealing off regs and donks.

everyone here should do this calculation and then decide for themsevles

    5k hands a day at 25/50 for 4ptbb/100 for 365 days

tell me you could turn down that kind of money

If an opportunity arose in which you could win millions of dollars through deception with zero risk of being caught, I think the vast, vast majority of people on this forum would take it.

how's the view from your high horse in theoretical land?
  26. #26
I dont believe anybody would genuinely turn it down if they were put in the situation provided it was 100% guaranteed nobody would find out what you were doing.

This would/could completely change your entire life and your family's life.

The reasons to be honest seem insignificant in comparision IMO. But maybe I'm just greedy.

It's not about being on a "high horse". It's about integrity. I could not live with myself by cheating my way to the top. If you can, great, have at it, you will find that money will not solve your problems.

FWIW, per the original quote --> a consistent 4ptbb at 25/50 would get you looked at pretty quickly, long before the 365 days are up. Even then you would'nt get anyone to play against you for very long. AND, I doubt there are enough games going on to get 5K hands a day. But since this is theoretical anyways, have fun with your $73M, you won't die happy.

"High horse" implies that GatorJH thinks everyone else would steal the money and he thinks superior to all of them because he wouldn't steal it. I don't think that's what he meant. I imagine many, many people, if not a majority of people, would turn the money down as long as they were already comfortably well off.

When someone says he wouldn't steal a loaf of bread if his family were starving, then you can tell him to get off his high horse, because you can't afford to worry about morals when you're desperate to stay alive.
  29. #29
What I really meant was it's great to portray someone that has these high standards and great morals, but I bet if this wasn't theoretical, that every single one of us would have a v v v hard time turning down such a great deal of money.

I think if I put a ton of effort into finding/making the loophole then I wouldnt feel so bad about exploiting it. But if just for some reason there was an error and my acct suddenly was superuser status I would have a hard time enjoying the money.

If I won the lottery I would feel kinda uneasy and ashamed that the lottery is the way I made my fortune, but nonetheless its legit. If I luckboxed a superuser acct and cheated people out of their money, it wouldnt be something I could ever tell anyone. I would be far too ashamed. Also I would myself become a quasi celebrity, atleast in the online poker world. There would be too much scrutiny and I would have to put on a false front and pretend I was something that I wasnt. If I won the lottery I could just live it up being that retard luckbox.

Money doesnt buy happiness but indeed in a capitalist consumer culture it makes being happy a lot easier so long as you dont lose sight of what you really want in life.

i honestly believe that those who say no are over-calculating themselves and humans in general. our opinions change based on our experiences and opportunities more than we like to admit. it is in our nature to do this, and to do what is best and easiest for us despite others. it is in our nature to adapt to what we have and can have (and cannot or do not), to compromise our values. i used to believe that i would never disbelieve in god, gay was a horrible abomination, masturbation and pre-marital sex was evil, etc. but i no longer do, and my point here is that my opinion began to change not through logic but through experience.

its easy to say you wouldnt use account when you will never have one, but not so easy when its right before your eyes, unblemished, you hate your job, dont make as much money as you want, you daydream about buying all these new super expensive things because you know you could if only you didn't have a conscience, you just keep running like shit, grimstarr pisses you the motherfuck off....
  45. #45
fuck yes. i would use my money to drink dom P every nite for breakfast and ball out of control. FTR trips would turn into trips to the playboy suite and just out of control parties. Anyone that says they would not use it even once is underestimating the power of money.

I consider myself a generally honest person and have never stolen anything. I started to steal a hat once, but felt guilty before I got out the door and set it down.

But I'd carefully milk a superuser account for all I could.

It's obviously still stealing, but the difference is that this is the kind of money that can improve my families situation for good (and their families, etc).

Would I feel guilty? Probably, but I'd be willing to take that in exchange for a life without concerns over money.

So now that we all think ChrisBCritter needs to shut the fuck up, how many people would even go as high as 25/50 with a superuser account? Isn't that just asking to get busted?

The question is what if you didn't know you were supposed to see your opponents cards. Honestly If you got a superuser account would you ever play online poker again. Heard a story about some guy deposited 1k somehow his screen like froze up and he ended up with like 10k in his account a malfunction. If I got a super user account I would automatically assume other people had the same account. Seems like it would be to easy to get caught. Would you guys use it to even get reads on how other players play like the high stakes players. If you posted what they did with every hand I'm sure you could make bank off selling that.

Hypothetically no. I mean, unless it actually happened.

Don't make a bunch of huge lay downs, don't make a bunch of sick calls. Just be right most of the time when it's close. Same way you get rich by actually being good at poker, only not.

I would write a simple script to pick an approximate amount each day that I should win or lose to make a long-term winrate of about 3-4 ptbb/100 at 3/6 and 5/10. Then I would play along a couple thousand hands each day until I got close to that amount. So easy.
