It's inevitable though, and fully encrypted data over multilayered spider-webs of routers with deeply spoofed IPs will most likely be the future.
The fundamental problem is that control freaks will always have their way because they're the only ones who are such victims to their own psyches and egos that they get validation from spending their short lives climbing the greasy pole to the top.
RE: pokers? Poker is just a symptom of what we can expect to escalate - increasing economic authoritarianism through playing on people's fears, religious beliefs and general idiocy..
.. Expect tighter controls on smoking, further proliferation of nuclear power (less risky sources like wind ignored), the escalation of tensions with the rest of the world (especially Russia), anti-China propaganda, a bigger "war on drugs" and an increase of bigotry through the media.
This, of course, is unless it turns out that Barack Obama is an uncorruptable free-willed strong human being, which is very improbable.
