    6 Max...10/25

    -Im on the Button...with KK
-Player in MP raises standard 3x the bb....75 c
    -I 3 bet to 2.50
-he calls...we go HU to the flop

    -Flop comes 9c 2d 7h

    -he bets pot(5$)
-I i reraise him all in

-He insta calls with a set of 9's...I lose

what can you do to get away from these hidden sets in a 3bet pot preflop??

Um... Find out if he is the type of guy who donks pot in a 3bet HU pot with the nuts. A little bit of read would help. And now you have that read, so try not to do it again against him

No stack sizes, but for one, he has odds to chase a set with full stacks if you pay him off, so don't pay off. What hands were you expecting him to have that called and what hands do you beat that call that shove?

Classic Super System, leading into the pfr with a set lol.

It's not a duplicate hand but there are similarities. It's a 3bet pot, but I'm OOP so I donk flop and a worse hand calls. True, I knew villian was a little loose. You can decide if there's any relevance. Also, this is 10NL FR.

Preflop: Hero is SB with K, K
    2 folds, MP1 calls $0.10, 1 fold, CO bets $0.40, 1 fold, Hero raises to $1.30, 2 folds, CO calls $0.90
    Flop: ($2.80) 4, 7, 6 (2 players)
    Hero bets $8.12 (All-In), CO calls $8.12
    Turn: ($19.04) 7 (2 players, 1 all-in)
    River: ($19.04) 3 (2 players, 1 all-in)
    Total pot: $19.04 | Rake: $0.94

    Results:
Hero had K, K (two pair, Kings and sevens).
CO had J, J (two pair, Jacks and sevens).

I don't get away from this ever, even if I have a good read on him.

Big difference here as the hands that may call because of the board texture. So many more draws here than on the OP's hand. I get it in here all day if villain donks but here your the donker, I also 3bet pre to 4X or more (prob $2.00) making this an easier hand to play

I don't overbet shove this flop though, I would slightly overbet shove a blank turn.

I'd probably tank call the flop then snap the turn.

Widen your 3Betting range on the button somewhat to make his preflop call unprofitable to setmine

As played vs an unknown call flop call any turn

it's not like 99 in this spot is just setmining, and if they are you aren't exactly 3betting an optimal range from the button

if people are constantly calling 3bets against you with like 22-99 out of position then just 3bet the hell out of them and win a lot of small/medium pots 7/8ths of the time and the other times you stack off vs. sets you'll have more equity than just a naked overpair.

I'm usually not too keen on giving advice in these threads, but I think you could've just called the flop and see what happens on the turn. You could've raised (not shoved) and then seen the villain react and narrow the range a lot.

Plus without stack sizes pre, it's hard to give any advice? You shoving your last $7.00 on the flop is fine, but if you shoved $20.00+ into a $10.00 pot, you were asking to get insti called with a set in my opinion.

And yes, I can get away from this hand depending on previous hands with the villain. If the villain or myself just sat down at the table, that could mask the hand a little.
