If your head is clear and your mind is good, dont quit the day. I say leave the session after 50 BB and reevaluate your play. Are you losing cuz you are playing bad or because you've had some nasty beats?

Are you on tilt? if yes, then quit, if no, take a break and come back.

I am almost positive its due to bad beats, I will look over my hands to see if I played them right. Very frusterating phase.

38BB doesn't sound like much of a downswing. I lose my stack all the time and I don't give it a second thought. It's usually happens on the best tables too, where loose/maniacs go all in with flush draws, TP weak kicker etc. I just rebuy and continue playing.

My worst downswing so far has been about 3.5 buyins=350 big blinds (175 big bets). You just have to accept variations like this.

Sounds like you are playing limit, though. But from what I've read on this forum, limit has even bigger swing than NL. So, a loss of 38BB should be even less of a concern.

The easiest way for me to check on a downswing is to load up PT and sort hands dealt by money lost. If all the highest loss hands are quality ones where I played them correctly AND I don't have any loony hands in there which I shouldn't have played or completely hosed post-flop, I keep going. Thats just my tilt check...

Wobbler: I am playing limit, so losing my entire stack takes more than one hand.

Sed: Nice avatar. I just check PT and AA, AK, ATs are all losing

How much did you bet preflop? I hope it was at least 2BB. If so, then you got beat by some moron that should not have been in the hand.

.05/.10 Limit. I think you played that hand the best you could. At that level, even higher, you get people playing all sorts of junk. 38BB in how many hands? It doesn't sound like you're on tilt. When I'm on tilt I sure don't take the time to evaluate my play in PT or ask if I'm playing hands correctly. I'll keep raising with the intention of running everyone else out of money, give the screen the finger, stand on my chair, turn around, drop my pants and moon that &%$#%$ who beat my T4o with his wussy pair of aces. Then raise him the next hand with 83o, knowing that because they're not sooted, I got a shot at two flushes instead of just one.

Nah, you're ok, sounds like you've taken some bad beats, got your aces cracked a couple times. I'd keep playing. Just play solid poker, and be patient, you can't make it all up in one hand.

it's over ~350 hands. It's not a lot but the fact that it's the biggest downswing I have had is just a shock more than anything. I am not too worried about it. I am more than properly BR'ed. I am still playing rationally, just getting good hands beat by shit hands.
