Did I play this too timid? Am I overthinking here, or am I lucky to get out of there with my shirt on my back? Oh yeah, and his money.

Turn: I would put him on a straight or air. Call and hope to suck out on his most probable holding, which is anything involving a six. River: push. You hit your hand and you have every reason to think he has a straight, so hopefully he'll pay off. A few hands are ahead of you (78, 79, 88, 99, 77). However, him raising the turn with any of these hands is on the peculiar side. (Note: him raising with what he did have is QUITE on the peculiar side, and we found out why: he's a donk.) I don't see the need for the weak blocking bet... you only have $30 left and if he puts it in you have to call, and you're surely missing a lot of value by not just pushing yourself and getting the max out of what looks strongly like a straight in the hands of a dipshit (due to his weak turn raise on a very threatening board).

This is very standard. There is absolutely NO WAY you can fold the river getting like 6.5 - 1. In fact I would open push the river here. If he has you beat then that's poker.

Check-raise all-in on the river. You should never even consider folding here with these stacks.

Push river. It's less than a psb, and he will surely call with a straight.

You don't think open pushing is best? An all in check raise only gets more value out of a stone cold bluff, which I don't think he has here. If he has a straight he will certainly call a push.

If we're assuming his likeliest hands are a straight or nothing, then you should check. The reason is that he can't call an all-in bet with nothing, but may bluff, and he will almost always bet a straight when checked to.

Thanks for the input guys. The push vs. check/push is a good debate. I vote for a push. The straight is more likely to call a push, than to push himself with a paired board don't you think? If I had the straight, and opponent played the hand as I did, I would check behind. Pot is big enough and you are behind a few suited connectors and PPs.
